Brain freeze- Snaphappy playing & learning

!978? You are just a kid. My daughter was born the year after you were.

National parks should not be commercialized much past the point of paying for the park and facilities. Sounds like this park would be a great place to visit.

In the US, if you're 62 or older, you can buy a senior pass for $10.00 and get free access to any national park in the US. Met someone yesterday that said it's good in Puerto Rico also. Oh, it doesn't expire either.

Wow I screwed up my math on the park size! It is a park in that it is a protected area of land and all its inhabitants are protected. There is a small community of just under 5000 people with some stores etc but other wise it is wilderness and you can enjoy but nothing is to be harmed or removed. Its awe inspiring to see the plants and animals able to thrive in that elevation but they do. There is both prey and predators which live naturally in the parks but since they've never had guns pointed at them they don't run like heck when you point a camera at them which was wonderful. Parks Canada has used the park fees well and the bridges, walkways, info etc is well maintained with as little change to the natural landscape as possible while keeping us humans safe.

Jasper is like Yellowstone park (I was there as a teenager).
Jasper
10,878 km sq (4,200 sq mi)
Banff
6,641 km sq
(2,564 sq mi)
Yoho 1,313 km sq (507 mi sq) west of Banff
Kootenay
1,406 km sq (543 sq mi) also west of Banff
Mt Robson
2,249 km sq west of Jasper (BC)
All these parks are together so wildlife can move without ever leaving protected lands. 2 big ones are in Alberta and the other 3 in British Columbia

Yellowstone (3,472 square miles) 8,987 square km

I had great hope for this shot but wow it was a disaster. Still not sure how I can zoom and see the fog and trees on my camera screen but on my computer end up with this ugh!
Was moon rising through very thick low cloud and fog. Very orange and thought I had foggy trees below and stars above. Should have flipped to video to capture the damn coyotes patrolling around the property

Last night I saw this warming up so headed out and up into the hay loft to see if I could get a clear shot.
The sky did not disappoint

Usually he's a spooky pain in the butt about my camera and shutter click so had to take advantage of his sudden bravery and morning light

LOL Hay loft is converted to kid play area with old dry hay bales, tire swing and 2 different rope swings, teeter totter and small trampoline not to mention little trucks, tractors and tea party stuff :) Hubby is allergic to hay so I have a room downstairs that makes it easier to load and feed critters on my own. He hauls it for me and helps but I try to do as much as I can on my own since he turns into a big mess of hives. Actually I was up there laughing as daughter and hubby left back gate not securely latched and horses were running around yard digging up the damp ground with their hooves with while 8yr old tried to tell Dad that negotiating or trying to get tough with horses was just not going to work hehehe I had a fantastic view :) After the sky looked to be fading I came down and walked the horses back to the field. Playing in the hay loft wouldn't work well for allergic hubby :)

I give up on PP so here's my Big horn girls as I shot them. I'd hoped to do a little PP since I was using high ISO but will have to revisit them after more learning

As I changed to my 18-55mm a second showed up -bottom of the hill before the curve is where we climbed waterfalls earlier
34mm iso 640 F9 1/250

I like this one but sadly it had gotten too dark so my flash gave her green pupils

I had so much fun watching them working my camera and trying to capture them in the fading light. They were so darn close and it was fantastic
I NEVER get wildlife to come close and certainly never get them to pose so nicely for me! I had 300+lbs of barking dogs bouncing the back of the truck (which is why I think they posed for me they were watching the dogs in a wooden crate go nuts below them), 3 kids fighting over looking out the window and hubby worried they were going to jump down on his truck LOL
