The walk is only 5kms but steep so I was very proud of my 6yr old
I was amazed by the trees etc that seemed to thrive in places that seemed impossible

After walking on mountains then wandering in canyons we soaked in Miette Hot springs. The parking lot was covered in Don't feed the sheep signs but we didn't see any but it was pitch black
It was about 10pm when came across this guy as we drove back to campgrounds. He was VERY unhappy at the 300lbs of excited dogs in the back of the truck. This was the best I could do using my sb700 and iso4000. Its the demon elk who was warning us away and there was no way I was getting out of the truck its rutting season! He was the only male we saw though

First stop Athabasca Falls
I couldn't get over all the beautiful turquoise water in every river. The water level is very low because this is Fall so I'd love to come back in Spring

Tonight I wondered why my horses and dogs were going nuts, then realized Momma moose was going for a stroll down the road
70mm iso 800 She was fine going by my chattering ducks

But decided she needed to sprint past the front gate with dogs barking

I was too underexposed even at 1/60 :( I'd have done better with my 50mm at F1.8 but my 70-300mm was on my camera and she was in a hurry

Thanx Michael and Roy. I used my monopod and tripod more than I ever have before during this trip. The monopod came up on top of the mountain because of space restraints in the tram but glad I brought it with the wind and very over cast day. The waterfalls I posted so far were all done with only my cpol. The very cloudy overcast days coupled with overhead trees made for boring flat lighting but meant I had no need to pull out my ND. It did mean every photo I took was tripod mounted and was a royal pain on the steep uneven trails. It was just so beautiful I had to try to capture it though. If you are looking at the exif and see time it is incorrect as I didn't change my camera when we changed time zones so should be ahead an hour.

I'll interrupt my Jasper photos with yesterdays late Thanksgiving photos
Mmm the house smelled so good!

And for dessert kick butt 1 eyed monster cupcakes with extremely colourful cream cheese icing. I had to make up a dessert to donate for 4-H awards dinner on Friday so made extra for us

We call them kick butt cupcakes because of the kids and the kind of coffee I use to make the cupcakes MMMM

Another stop along the way
Diadem peak (the snowy ridge in the middle), Mt Wooley to the left and to the right mushroom peak at 18mm used a 16x9crop so only a small portion of sky was cropped off
NIK_6704.jpg

My very patient family as I uh and ah over the mountains
NIK_6708.jpg

Diadem at 55m no other crop but the 16x9 to remove some sky above
NIK_6711.jpg

To my left (south) if you look at the left side under the road you'll see what looks like a platform. I later learned this will be a huge glass floored deck that will open May 2014 Amazing I'll have to come back to oh and ah

What horizon LOL there was nothing flat around. I added the truck photo to add perspective and as you can see from the skywalk photo we were still headed up up up. I thought about straightening the ridge but it isn't flat, it is at an angle. The mtn to the left of the snowy ridge is Mount Woolley (3,460 m (11,352 ft) and I took those photos uncropped on the sides at 18 and 55mm. It was awesome and my photos can't do it justice because there just isn't a lens wide enough to take it all in

Tangle Creek Falls
We saw it along the road and stopped and it ended up being our most fun waterfall stop. It was fun to climb and playing with the multiple levels of falls kept me busy while kids climbed and fought over giant icicles :)

I did do some playing with my ND filter but I'll have to revisit those files when I can get into something other than my iphoto for pp. I really had fun dragging my tripod around and trying to not fall down the next fall as I tried to make my tripod stand straight on a wet rocky mountain and played in the water to get shots :)

The next shots will be from the shady side of the upper falls in this last photo
