Today I spent on the last school cross country field trip for the year. Brought my 18-55mm instead of the 35mm
My favourite red outhouse LOL This time I tried portrait so no cut off tree tops and outhouse isn't in the middle

Better??

I couldn't get to the straight on postion as I was looking out of a wood shed and there was wood where I wanted to be :)

NIK_8286.jpg

I liked the layers in the snow on the roof but when I tried cropping it just wasn't right. I like the shape of the tree tops so maybe I should just crop the roof out completely?

heading back to the lodge

liked the layers of trees and layers of falling snow

I really liked "My favourite red outhouse LOL This time I tried portrait so no cut off tree tops and outhouse isn't in the middle"

The "road" going it front makes the photo.

Only one thing about it bothered me.

Ah ha was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure about removing them

I had to slide that highlight button in order to get the trail to show up in my picture did I slide it over too far?

I swiped the bothersome branches out but otherwise this is the original photo straight from my camera. I wish I could get rid of that big yucky snow flake as well it bothers me more.

Should I lower the highlights on my edited version?

Well, I got my first goose egg of the year so thought I'd do an egg shoot but I spent an afternoon moving things trying different backgrounds and positions. Nothing I tried turned out well at all. Start my photography course on tues and hope things start to make sense for me.

They need faces

Well, hopefully the boys have been doing their jobs and they'll hatch out with faces :) The duck and goose eggs will be going into the incubator and since shells are porous we're careful about what we put on their shells. We leave them as the girls laid them so have clean nests and we don't wash or wipe at eggs at all. If nothing starts to grow (eggs not fertilized) then they'll be blown out and the kids will decorate them up

Maybe if they had faces I could get them in focus hahaha

Rexer John you'd need about 4 pieces of toast LOL If you ever want to do an omelette photo shoot use a goose egg (or 2 if you want a family size) because wow they fluff up and look absolutely fabulous but taste like a sponge :( We ate it but it was dry which was more disappointing because it sooooo beautiful!

what an ugly day! Ugly outside and just one of those days
So here's the snow coming down at 12:30am this morning. Couldn't quite capture the orange glow so it's a bit dark

Yesterday was a day of family shots but set up late last night to candle my duck and goose eggs. It was a bit early so not much to see yet. No veins yet they should be forming today and tonight they should look like spider in a web but in this picture you can see circle which tells me that the cells are dividing on the yolk yeah

I thought because the moon was so small and fog covered last night I'd be able to pull off a picture but it was still too bright. I though the clouds looked alright though

Today i've spent searching for settings for the northern lights as even though its cloudy I'm hoping for a glimpse this evening. Got my 35mm 1.8G set to infinity where I think I'll shoot from. Figured out how to work my new remote and set camera to mirror up for the remote. And I've set my images to NEF instead of jpeg. Got my battery charging and I'm hoping for the snow to stop and the clouds to clear!

Well, I'm tired today after spending all night freezing outside and northern lights never made an appearance :(

Here's a cool barn with a collapsed roof. Unfortunately its very close to the road and very big powerlines so finding a good angle was difficult. I went to PP it but I think it turned out pretty good just as it is so left it alone

Wish I'd brought my Cpol filter today for these river shots

Sorry about the northern light. That was my fault. Got really tired and turned in early and forgot to turn them on. And I see from that last picture Canadian summer has finally arrived. :)

Promise I will get better about turning on the lights.

LOL so it was your fault Moab Man! Ha ha was a solar flare yesterday so supposed to get a good lights show but they left me hanging. Usually I see the lights at least 5-6 times in the winter but this year finally got camera lens and some knowledge to capture them and have not seen them yet! Same got my 70-300mm lens and ready to get a good picture of momma moose and her calf but so far have not seen her. Have had to repair my fence twice as she broke in to raid the horse hay but haven't seen her :(

Oh and we're up north so summer is a couple months away still nothing but snow pics for awhile yet

Life's rough Tracsoft! I know my family and friends from southern BC are sending me pics of kids on slip and slides and picking veggies from gardens and we have almost 3ft of snow

If it weren't for the electric fence wire the geese would walk right over the fence
NIK_8903.jpg

I'd just collected an egg from their nest and they weren't happy about me holding it
