The exif in the above shot shot shows the time 1/22 2016 at 00:35:37. I just realized that my camera was never turned back to daylight savings, the shot was actually taken an hour earlier.

I noticed the same thing on my camera the other day, but I wasn't shooting late enough to give me the wrong date. I made note of it in my thread as well.

That is what you get for waiting till the last minute to do your homework. Bet you got in trouble a lot when you were growing up by doing that.

I never had a problem with last minute homework. I just didn't do it. :encouragement:

Seriously, I started this shot at 9PM. It was a different shot but I had the Tums lined up a lot closer to each other. When I was trying to select out the tums from the background I had a helluva time trying to get a clean selection. (Yes I know about "refine edge" and how to use it) . After playing around for over two hours, I set up the Tums again, but this time a little further apart from each other.
Now I could cleanly select it out from the background and blend it in with my sunset clouds, and do other weird PP stuff with it.

Why would I be sulking over that? I could probably make do with your little Nikon P shooter for a few weeks if I had to.:indecisiveness:

You know there is an upside to this failed shutter... they have your camera and they are taking it apart to fix it and they will tune it up and replace or adjust anything else that may be out of spec. I went in to buy a $3 part for my bike and found out about a recall on the bike. It had 106,000 miles on it. The repair required a complete tare down of the motor. I replaced one bad piston and a couple other parts out of spec and got all new rings and seals... in effect, a rebuilt motor for the cost of the parts not covered... less than $200 @ 106,000 mile... So there is an up side... A new camera after X number of shutter clicks.

Not necessarily. If the AF needs calibration, it must be addressed prior to sending in the camera because I doubt that would be something obvious. I don't think they will check or test the camera for that. However, they will fix what they see as being a problem if they come across something that is covered under warranty.

@Blacktop, check the time on your D7100. I think it may be off.

Never mind. I should have read the whole thread. I hate it when that happens.

Day 22

I've been hunkering down and trying to get "selections" right in PS. Especially the "refine edge"part. Today I just took a shot of my coffee mug with the tiny guitar magnet and selected it out of the shot. I still could have done a much better job, but I'm starting to get the picture, (pun intended).;)

Also I am starting to understand layers and masks a lot more now than when I started . How do I know this? Because I don't get a headache any more thinking about it.:encouragement:

So here is my before and after shot.

You know that you can change the date and time on the photo exif data using software too, don't you? <snicker> :surprise:

Yes I know. I have no desire to do that at all. I don't need the Amazon gift card that bad.
I even feel funny, when I change something in a shot that is not original, like the sky, and then I always put a little explanation next to it.

The only thing I don't mind doing and don't feel the need any more to explain is when I do multiple exposures. I try to make my HDR shots as natural as I can, (unless I'm feeling wacky and want to do an over the top HDR shot)
I used to do that a lot more with cameras that just didn't have the DR, like the D3100 or the D300 or even the D7100. I do it a lot less now with the D750.

Just pulling your leg a little. Ha! I think we probably think the same way about all of these little challenges. They are for our own individual satisfaction and entertainment in the journey of photography.
