Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar. These guys have a nasty venom that they secrete on their barbs. It'll cause anything from a mild burn to a major rash and severe allergic reactions. RIP, little caterpillar, my wife wasn't cottoning to keeping you around. Looks a bit like an Indian Totem Pole.

FYI, just read this piece comparing the ISO noise between the D810 and D800e and the first thing it mentions is that the ACR 8.6 Release Candidate is just that - a "candidate". In other words, it's a beta release that supposedly handles the D810, but it apparently does a rather poor job of it...
