    NIKON 70 - 200mm f4

foo, there was a thread discussing a collar for this lens. I don't remember what all was suggested, but maybe you can also get an idea of what others are using. Hopefully @Krs_2007 will weigh in, too. http://nikonites.com/telephoto/17770-tripod-collar-70-200mm-f-4-a.html#axzz31JtaateU

Does this mode or setting exist?

In the past, @BackdoorHippie mentioned a cellphone app that helps calculate DOF (depth of field). To use it, I believe you'd have to know the distance to your subject. The depth of your subject(s) would be different if you had one row of people vs. 2-3 rows of people. The app will let you know...

    Post your latest purchases.

At the beginning of the year, I bought an 82mm 6-stop ND filter for my Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and needed a step up ring to fit it on the filter size of 77mm. Normally I order Adorama's step up rings, but their 77mm-82mm size has been on back order for months. B&H had one made by Sensei in...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

Huh? What is this? It's a really cool-looking photo, but the trees and the sky remind me of an IR shot. How did you do this? Quite fascinating actually! And I LOVE the Chapel door! ♥

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

Hmm...I don't know about this one. It kind of leaves me with the impression that it is........... FANTASTIC!!! Cool shot, Jake, but then you DO have a photographer's eye! ;) Seriously--I love the symmetry. :) Nice job with the other photos, too. I especially like the iridescent coloring...

    Did shutter speed affect this?

During the drama department's production, they showed a video. This is one of the photos I took of the video. It is one of the students standing in the school's hallway. The other photos I shot of the video showed either a little light green or light pink from the hallway's fluorescent lights...

    Post your Studio Photography

You are a good lookin' guy, Glenn! ;) I like your smile in this photo, but is that a little moire going on around the shirt's collar? That catches my eye right away. Nice job with the selfie!

    Post your Photographing the photographer.

This photo showed up in my FB news feed! :biggrin-new: <I didn't take this photo though.> If Facebook is blocked on your work computer, you might not be able to see it.

Better B&W Conversion Using Multiple Hue/Saturation Layers in Photoshop & Elements

Re: Better B&W Conversion Using Multiple Hue/Saturation Layers in Photoshop & Element Since this month's Monthly Assignment requires images to be converted to Black & White, I decided to revisit this tutorial that @BackdoorHippie created. I've never attempted a B&W conversion so I immediately...

    Display all thread images

@jdeg, when going to a subforum page such as the 365 day thread category, I'd like to choose the option to Display All Thread Images rather than read through all the pages. If the photos are linked from another site such as Flickr, then they don't show up that way, is that correct? I wanted to...

8 tripod mistakes every photographer makes article

Good suggestion! :) I remember taking photos at Sandy Hook, NJ and the sand was somewhat problematic. The wind was also a factor--and the tripod I used didn't have a hook. I think I fastened my camera bag to it somehow though because of the wind. These were taken with a tripod mounted Nikon...

Photographer that used developing chemicals as a booby-trap

I worked in North Brunswick during the late 80's but can't remember the names of any local newspapers. Was there a paper that began with an 'H' (like The Herald or something?) The Star Leger and The Asbury Park Press might also have something in their archives although I don't know if they would...

Windows XP and Internet Explorer problem

Doesn't sound good for those who still use Windows XP and Internet Explorer. I hope no one here does. https://www.yahoo.com/tech/new-security-flaw-affects-all-versions-of-internet-84085229159.html

    Best way to remove this

This is a SOOC unedited jpeg only resized for the forum. I found this piece of debris on my sensor over a week ago and used a rocket blower to try to remove it. Obviously the rocket blower didn't work. I will try it again, but if it doesn't come off, I am hesitant to do a wet cleaning--only...

    D610 Oil spot issue

Hi Gerry and welcome! :) Your spots don't look to be out of the ordinary. I had numerous sensor spot problems with my D600 which was finally rectified by Nikon taking back the camera. Here are a couple test shots from my previous D600: The following photo wasn't even of the entire sensor...

    Oil Spots on D7100

adox66, it appears @BackdoorHippie was in a discussion with Marcel about the same time you posted so I'm wondering if he missed your post. I do know the notification for quotes isn't working all that well. It will display a notification, but the particular quote that goes with the notification...

    Oil Spots on D7100

Luke, @BackdoorHippie posted this video for me last year when I needed to do my first wet cleaning. The beginning part of the video shows how to use a blower first (which should always be done prior to a wet cleaning anyway). It's very thorough.

    Post your MICRO flowers

Thanks Moab Man and @wev! That Tamron lens seems to be the most popular macro Tamron makes, and its photos are beautiful! If anyone does use an extension tube for shots posted to this thread, I hope they will include the info as it is always nice to read the EXIF data--unfortunately extension...
