    Server move!

The ad was there again today. Don't want any newbies to be deceived into thinking they should download the program. I was logged into my account, too. When clicking on the above link, the following page comes up:

    Monitor Calibration

I've been using the Spyder 4 Pro to calibrate my monitor, and it's been terrific. Unfortunately I let the calibration lapse and when re-configuring the settings, I am not able to get it calibrated correctly. It is an LCD monitor that only has Brightness and Contrast settings...no temperature...

    Server move!

I didn't like an ad I saw when I first came to the Nikonites home page. It had a huge exclamation point and said something like Please Read--Important Message. It took me to a page that looked like the following. People who aren't familiar with Nikonites might start downloading the file.

    Quotes with photos

@jdeg, after you finish everything from the server move, would you please consider looking into having all the quoted photos display as photos rather than as Attachment #####. Sometimes I have to go back a page or two to identify the photo that was quoted to understand why some of the replies...

    Separating Like/Thanks

Re: Contributing members idea I've been mulling this over ever since you posted it and hope @jdeg takes this into consideration. It would be nice to reserve the like feature for photos and a separate feature to thank someone for their input instead of having to write a reply. I use the...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

Here is Jake's IR for comparison between the two since the first one is now on a different page in this thread: In comparison I prefer the IR because there are a little more tones and subtle shading than the BW. They are both awesome, but in comparison, I prefer the first one, Jake! :)...

    LCD screen and cold temps

Today I spent some time outside (cold temp no higher than 19° to 20°F) with my D610 and had 2 occasions where I didn't see an image display on the LCD immediately after taking a photo. Trying to walk to my destination at the first stop didn't yield any photos because it was way too icy and...

"Beautiful, Intimate Portrait of Bees" by National Geographic

First let me say I'm not a fan of creepy, crawly, stinging things, but when this link showed up in my FB news feed, I couldn't resist the urge to take a peek. The US Army got involved using some of their technology to take macro shots of bees. Here are a couple of quotes from the article...

Wedding Story - Did I Act Wrong?

By now you probably realize the value of a contract. However, it isn't only for your protection...it's for the client's protection, too. And you can sell the benefits of a contract to them as locking in your low price, being there in a timely fashion and doing all that is required of you, as...

    AF On button

Nikon Rumors posted this video which explains using the AF On button on the back of the camera rather than holding down the shutter halfway then recomposing. lens advice for D610

Re: Advice pls I have the Sigma. It's a great lens, but it does have its drawbacks. In comparison to my Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6, the Nikon is MUCH better overall. I can definitely see a big difference in image quality when comparing photos from both lenses. Granted, it isn't a fair comparison...

    Caesium to reduce file size

Has anyone tried Caesium Image Compressor to reduce file size? After each theater production at the local high school, I make a 20"x30" poster to hang in their lobby. Since I know kids that age tend to like posters, I've tried to figure out ways on how to share these large @20MB files. Last...
