    Lighting for outdoor auto shoot?

With all the photography I've been doing at church, I was asked to take photos of a car show event this fall. It will be held on the church grounds. Most likely the cars won't be near any trees (no lush backgrounds) with cars being parked next to one another. What I am hoping to learn is what...

    F-Stoppers Choice in Tripod

Curious if anyone has this Benro tripod that F-Stoppers uses. It's 4.5 pounds without a head and looks to be a monster with the width of its legs. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1157821-REG/benro_tma38cl_mach3_9x_carbon_fiber.html

How to burn both videos & pics to one disc?

My church wants to create a disc that contains both a slide show as well as still images, but the person who usually burns the video discs says Windows removed the feature to burn movies. Is there some type of software that will allow both to be burned to one disc at the same time?

    Swimming pool poses

For the past couple of years, I've been making wall calendars as a church fund raiser and include a variety of activities. Next Sunday (22nd) the church is hosting a pool party for the kids. I think it will be held at someone's house so there shouldn't be any issue with taking photos of the...

    Mark on image

Thank you, Marcel, but to be fair, it was @BackdoorHippie who posted the video for me when I was dealing with my D600 oil spot problem. And I think it was Horoscope Fish who posted that loupe. Just want to give credit where credit is due. ;) The sensor cleaning video is amazing. I was petrified...

    Mark on image

The video below should give you a good idea of how to use a rocket blower as well as how to wet clean your sensor. They also make pen-type devices to spot clean the sensor. Always use a blower before putting any type of cleaning device (sensor swab or pen) on your sensor. And even if you've used...

    Iso 5000

Here is another example of Micah the day I shot at ISO 8000. This first image is with minimal editing. Then I went back and added a little Nik Dfine for noise reduction and a touch of high pass sharpening just to the green color of her eyes. Nik Dfine's noise reduction is most noticeable in...

    Iso 5000

One of my friends didn't realize I had cats, and after posting the above image on Facebook, she asked if I would post a photo of our other cat. Here is Micah. She came up from North Carolina via a rescue organization in that state that partnered with a local shelter. I upped my ISO to 8000 and...

    Iso 5000

I decided to try out my D7200 with ISO 5000. No flash was used since I wanted to see how the noise would look. I'm definitely much happier with the sensor in this body compared with the sensor of the D7100. There was very little editing done to this image.

    Online Storage

I'm looking into some type of online storage for my photos and was all set to go with Back Blaze until I read one thing. My whole point of an online storage is the option of storing files that I want to delete from my computer. I realize Back Blaze is a backup of a computer, but what options...

    Which remote cord?

Yesterday I stopped into Allen's Camera asking if they carry the ShutterBoss cord. Surprisingly I was told Vello is exclusive to B&H the same way Impact branded items are. I thought Vello was its own brand. Coincidentally they had this exact cord that they took in on a trade. They also said...

    Which remote cord?

I am looking to get either the Nikon MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord or the Vello ShutterBoss II Timer Remote Switch for Nikon with DC2 Connection for my bodies (all of which take this type of connection). Does anyone have experience with either--such as what's good or not good about them? I know the...

Post your favorite June shot 2018

Can't decide between these two. The first one was panned with camera to get the blurred background while the second was blurred in post. There is a slightly different look between the blur. The first one took some practice (and missed shots) before I got into the rhythm of syncing my panning...

    Slow - slow - slow

@jdeg the shout box isn't displaying properly at all. It's huge and it runs into the top of the threads below it. Thanks for working on it though. :)

    Post your latest purchases.

I've watched a few Scott Kelby videos where he uses a Platypod Ultra paired with an Oben ball head and finally decided to get one. I can think of several places where I can use this for architecture. Although I'm not an Arca Swiss fan, I know the head can't be too tall or it will make the mount...

AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Bokeh Rings

I did a little more digging. Initially when I read up on the lens comparing the PF with my 300mm f/4D AF-S, I remember reading something about the previous version being a little better than the PF with one particular feature. I thought it had to do with bokeh, but since it was last year, I...

AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Bokeh Rings

I don't think it's coming from the body--pretty sure it's from the lens. If you remove the lens from your body and look through the rear element, press the lever to make the blades stop down (if you can do that). What you should be able to see is the shape the aperture blades make when the lens...
