    Sigma Lens Compatibility Issues

I posted this as a response to someone's question but thought it should have its own thread. When searching for info on Sigma's lens compatibility problem, I came across info that explains why the issue exists. It says Tamron and Tokina pay licensing fees to Nikon while Sigma doesn't. Supposedly...

No memory card, no shutter actuation

Recently I heard about the ability to set a body to not actuate the shutter when no memory card is inserted and am curious how many people enable this setting? I don't recall seeing it mentioned here although no doubt I could have missed it. I just set my D750 and D7200--both use f7 under the...

    Primes vs Telephoto lenses

I have both the PF and the AF-S (no VR) versions of the 300mm f/4 prime as well as a 1.4x teleconverter. The difference in IQ with the 1.4x teleconverter is very small. I'm pretty sure both of these were taken with the AF-S (non-VR) lens and 1.4x teleconverter earlier this year. The PF weighs a...

    Post your latest purchases.

Lol...well...I will also admit buying their Basic Kit after watching their video on changing the Kelvin temperature in camera. The Standard Gel set included in the kit are color correction gels. If the Kelvin temp is changed to be really blue, their CTO gels correct the blue tones on the people...

Several months ago, the lady who asked me to take Tball photos of her son asked if I would take her family photos. I declined since my only real flash experience is with OCF while using a flash bracket (corded). Even though I have triggers, multiple flash units, and light stands, flash simply...

    Histogram and printing

I find that when printing, quite often I have to tweak adjustments to the shadows (raise them). Otherwise, quite often there isn't a lot of detail in the shadows. And that's after making sure I don't have any clipping going on. And as Don mentioned, be sure to calibrate your monitor. If you are...

    Godox AD200 question

I found this by MagMod made specifically to attach triggers to flash units. It's a set of 3 silicone bands. I will have to find out if they will fit on the Godox AD200 since it is a little bigger than a typical flash...

    Godox AD200 question

The Godox AD200 is a popular flash unit, and when the times comes that I need to add any additional flashes, I am interested in it. However, there seems to be a caveat. Since it lacks a hot shoe, it doesn't appear it can sync with any triggers other than one by Godox. So does that mean I...

Replace mount ring on Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom Nikkor Lens

Maybe @rickHo can give you some suggestions on where to look. He repairs some of his own lenses.

So the work of @kevy73 is just a figment of my imagination? :eyetwitch: Hey Kevin, you out there in the land of make believe? ;)

Shooting people with 70-200mm 2.8...what's the endgame?

Greg, you might want to get some type of Depth of Field app so you can calculate and see the range of DoF based on your settings. Using Fish's example of being 10 feet away while using a 70mm lens at f/2.8, here is a screen shot from the Simple DoF Calculator (only available for iOS devices)...

    Magmod Flash Modifiers

I read through what forum posts I could find on the Magmod flash modifiers but couldn't find any reviews here. There are a few members who mentioned getting something from the Magmod system, but does anyone have any feedback from using it? Magmod has the Sphere, a grid, a bounce option, gels...

    Rechargeable AA Batteries

I want to add some rechargeable AA batteries but am looking at something more powerful than the original Eneloop AA batteries. Panasonic Eneloop makes the Eneloop Pro, and there is another company that is rated well called Powerex Pro. No doubt I'll need a new charger for them, too. Between...

    Lighting for outdoor auto shoot?

This car show is coming up at the beginning of September. I am leaning towards just natural light rather than any flash. There are going to be lots of people milling around so no room to set up a light stand (and don't want to use my flash bracket). The woman who asked me for help pointed me to...

Ahhh! Grainy photos due to high ISO

Based on this image, I used Nik Dfine. The first one is with Dfine automatically applying its noise reduction. In the second, I went in and added a little noise back it so it isn't quite so smooth.
