    Post your 150-600 Tamron shots.

Not too shabby for being handheld at 1/20 of a second. The VR is pretty darn good.

    Daytime Long Exposure

Tried my hand at some long exposures using ND filters. The pic below ended up being a 10 stop stacked on a 6 stop for a total of 2min11second exposure. Unfortunately the circumstances were not ideal for framing my pic. My camera was mounted on a gorilla pod which is short so angling up meant...

Hands-On: Lightroom Mobile iPad / iPhone

After seeing this thread I decided to download it and have a look. Pretty easy to setup. Just make sure your desktop and mobile device are signed into the cloud. From the Desktop LR just enable sync (looks like you get about 54GB of space to be able to store) and presto. You have access to...

    New Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3

Pic 3772-001 looks like it has the miniature effect. I'm getting pretty used to the weight of the lens. If it's too heavy or awkward you should consider a gimbal. I purchased a very entry level Opteka and it's served me well thus far. I can tell how a more expensive one would function...

June Monthly Assignment - BIRDS, BIRDS, BIRDS!!!!

Entry #3: Wave Crashers Some shoreline birds wading out take some waves head on.

June Monthly Assignment - BIRDS, BIRDS, BIRDS!!!!

Entry #2: Hanging out at the beach. Checking out chicks. I was dive bombed a couple of times approaching the natural habitat of these nesting birds/chicks.

Try as I might, my level with LR (or lack thereof) still couldn't salvage a poorly shot mocking bird pic.

Tamron 150-600mm handheld slow shutter VC on

I just got my Tamron 150-600 and I'm starting to get a feel for it. So far I'm liking what I see. I did some handheld slowish shutter pics this morning (with no coffee) and Vibration Control ON. The VC is pretty active (way more than my old Sigma 150-500) and anticipation is key. These...

    This is FULL FRAME

Since we're talking tubes and TCs, I decided to see what mine could do. Here's my D600 with a 1.4TC, about 68mm of extension tubes using a 105mm 2.8G. I was too lazy to get my flash out. No cropping of course. It gets pretty good magnification but not nearly as much as Scotts. The second...

    Flickr

Re: Flicker I just checked out my old Photobucket account. They are more intuitive... even labeling what some of the "links" are for. That's helpful for sure. On flickr when you're looking at a pic you should see the following menu to the right When you click on the box symbol with the...

    New Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3

On the Canon version, DXO gives the Tamron virtually the same rating as the Sigma 150-500mm.

    Savings tip for online storage

I just wanted to pass along a tip that I "fell" into with an online storage vendor (JustCloud). I signed up for a free account some time ago but never did anything with it. JustCloud was pretty aggressive at trying to get me to sign up and use their service. A few days went by and they...

Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Review

Jury's still out on this lens. Today was too cold to really hunt for some shots. I took some tests and will posts some snippets of those pics. These were imported through lightroom but no PP except for cropping to show detail. Here's a squirrel: 200mm ISO320 f3.5 1/500' about 25 feet away...

    Car-L with D800E meets lions

This was a neat video I saw on youtube. A D800E placed in a custom remote control car to get some close ups of lions. "Car-L" meets the lions - YouTube

D600 customers taking frustations out on D610 reviews/ratiings

Once in awhile I check online for camera prices to see what everything is selling for. Invariably the reviews for all cameras are always 4 stars and up. Pretty much the same giddy banter about how great the camera performs, etc. When I came across the D610 I was shocked to see the ratings...

    Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

I would have liked this photo of an osprey diving for his lunch while some guys are kite surfing around him. Not sharp enough and his wing or something is covering up his head.... sigh.
