I've already said that I like the 17-55, but after reviewing a bunch of concert and bar band shots, I find that almost all were taken with my old 80-200 or current 70-200. Very few shot with 17-55 or 24-70. Here's one from last year as an example.

Quickie shot from this afternoon while my wife was out front watering some plants. Grabbed my D600, which had the 24-70 on it and rapid fired a half dozen shots of a couple of carpenter bees hanging around our cone flowers. Here's one of the shots, heavily cropped.
