Don't know about wicked fast. It's noticeably slower than my 70-200, which can be expected, given the price diff. But you're right about the VR. Here's a shot from yesterday @ 1/400, although I was cheating and using a monopod. :)

Spent an hour at the STL Zoo this morning and took 100+ shots. Going to take me a while to get used to this heavy rig. Shot Auto ISO for most of the time, due to constantly changing, early morning light. Here's a couple of the "keepers". Shot this one in DX mode

My 200-500 arrived this afternoon and I had a few minutes to play with it in the back yard with my mutts. Shot manual and pics below are SOOC. First was on my D7000, rest on D750. Planning on spending a couple of hours at the Zoo tomorrow morning with it and the D750.
