    Boat sailed away!

Re: Boat coming in I like the shot a lot, but more for the lake and the sky. The third rule does not bother me as much as the color cast. I took the liberty to do a little color correction. Unless it's my monitor, I humbly prefer the corrected colors.

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Thanks Helene for your kind words and comments. As for the squeaky toy, there is no way I'm going to carry this in with my piano tools and camera. But, I appreciate the idea. I have to admit it would have made a better shot if the dog would have...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Here is today's piano project shots. Of the two, the second one is my favorite. Both were done in very low light. I guess I'll have to take more shots from these settings, since I find myself having to use the shot just for the person's expression...

    Laying bare my naked soul...

Well, for my taste, I just think there is too much color, not enough white reflection from the water drops. I find this a little aggressive and my eyes just don't want to stick to the picture. So I gave it a trial with B+W and this is it: I still find there is no focal point where the eyes...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Thanks Jen. The cloud in the second shot was moving too fast for the long exposure. And I might have over corrected the color balance. Here's some of yesterday's shots

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Here are a few more shots from my week out of town. This was done at night and the color of the lights was so horrible that the B+W was required View of Riviere du Loup at night

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) so I've been out of town for work to pay for the lenses and the cameras... LOL Here's what I came up with: HDR 3 hand held exposures D700 at 800 Iso. Taken in Riviere du Loup Quebec. House at dusk same location. Another HDR done at Riviere du...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) This is a one exposure corrected using CS5/image/adjustments/HDR

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) This one was done with CS5 HDR photomerge. Sometimes I use Photomatix too. I find photomatix works better when things have moved in between exposures (trees, leaves, etc). And some other times, I tried with Photomatix and started back with CS5. I...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) I had the chance to do a guided tour to the canadian parliament in Ottawa yesterday and this is one of the shots that came out of it. The second one is of the museum of civilization where the light was just right for the mood shot.

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) I took the tripod out for a walk along with the D700 last night hoping to do a bridge shot for this week's challenge. The bridge didn't turn out as I had wished, but I came back with these. I used the 70-300 except the one with the trees, ISO 2000...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Here's todays pic of the day as far as I'm concerned. Tried HDR but did not like the result. There was no detail to be gained in the windows even with 3 stops under. So this is it for now.

    HDR tractor

Here's the original shot with a little help PP as usual. There is no picture that can't be improved with PP. For the cropping, there were things beside the tractor that I didn't want in the shot, and, I'm working with D700 and D7000. One has 100% view where the D700 has 95%. I guess I thought I...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Here is today's pic. This person was extremely camera shy. I had to insist so he would even let me take the camera out. I was finally able to catch his sight. You have to remember that this is a long going project for me. It's not the individual...

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) This is actually yesterday's shot that I didn't have time to process. Landscape HDR with the D700. Processed in Photomatix. Iso 200, 1/650 f 9 from 3 exposures. I tried it with photoshop hdr merge and I did not like the end result.

Today's Pic (not 365-2011 but maybe close)

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close) Thanks Jen, It posed for me and kept looking straight into the lens for many many shots. Here's the original unretouched pic well, sort of since I just realized I posted the next or previous shot. But the light was exactly that.

    HDR tractor

Hi, I made these two HDR trials and was wondering which you prefer and why. One is a one shot worked with CS5 HDR adjustment, and the other is a 3 shot, Photomatix and then CS5. Thanks.
