@Smoke there are really 2 angles to this whole thing as far as I understand it after 2 years. Low-key and high-end. Low-key ends up being friends asking for small shoots, maybe their friends, and past depends on how they like what you do. Cards help, but aren't really that essential as is a site...

@WhiteLight, another thing to consider is the general purpose of your site/folio- attract paying customers or simply showcase whatever you like to shoot for anyone out there. At least from my experience, where I live(d), nature doesn't sell at all and National Geographic is within a leg's reach...

@WhiteLight, I'd do it per category and then whatever you feel is enough to convince the buyer. There are lots of profuct types and each is shot differently, so I'd do at least 8-10 shots showcasing a small solid, glass, clothing, a car(?), etc. And have shots vary greatly if its the same type...

So I've been trying to find the easiest plugin that would allow me to simply tag an add-to-cart/buy-now marker to existing shots and thus make selling event shots an easy and unobtrusive to the rest of the site kind of process. So, what does NIK do that shop can't? Or is it just a clever collection of good presets for any situation imaginable + usual manual tweaks? I do most adjusts by hand when needs be (playing with contrast and colors if I'm making a B/W, etc), and I can't really imagine what ACR lacks on almost any...

Like the artistic slump, when I feel like total #$%^ and have no idea what to really do to get out. Improving my shots would most likely help, and though NAS is never the answer to that, I do want to allocate funds in the long-run benefit instead of eating through them. Choices are: 28-70 2.8...

@alfaholic I too prefer to squeeze everything out of most shots in a similar way and to me, that separates getting the most out of/using a proper camera from all the cellphone wannabes as well as complete amateurs that shoot jpegs. Only area thus far where too much is bad, is portraiture.

Definitely agree with @Rick on this one - couple high quality lenses and a solid body > everything else. When budget is still an issue and you're looking for something brand new to you, then you get what you can afford, but once you have something particular already, next step should be worth...
