    First time with 2 flashes

And dealing with CLS and its limitations on the Yongnuo at times. I'll definitely say that first time I'll do a paid studio style gig, I'll invest into triggers like no tomorrow. Until then, a backdrop to set up at home for more practice. Blind Whino Shoot - Skvora Limited Photography

Small Flashbender, their long bounce, or some simple plastic bounce?

Finally test drove my large bender + softbox attachment and I liked everything but the bulk. Softbox option is the main attractive factor for me, but if the small bender can't really deliver enough spread, then perhaps I can get/make a simple pizza-slice white card to bounce light better than a...

Beginning of my studio product journey.

Only rule being getting the desired shot done by any means necessary. And inching my way item by item, day by day trying various little things. I think the dust plague in the black shots is here to stay until I find some kind of blower or just leave it for post to remove all of that junk...

    Lighting Help

And use a sheet or paper or some kind of softbox to take that harsh flash reflection off of the front. Alternative would indeed be photoshopping the background into a more pure white and/or light painting in the first place to avoid seeing the flash anywhere on the surface of the subject.

    1st backdrop color?

So about to search for and get my first proper backdrop cloth, any suggestions on a good starting color? White would be easy to wash out and get a pure white surrounding look. Black might do wonders for isolation as well, though would have to do much harder flash work at lower apertures. Is...

    Selling my first photograph

@AC016 , so what rights of use did you sell them? And did you keep your copyright? Example - you can allow them to use the photo for self-promotion, but disallow them selling it as their own; or allow both, but still retain your copyright of it if you wanted to do likewise yourself. Or sell the...

Venus Optics 60mm Macro 2:1 MF

Venus Optics announced new 60mm f/2.8 Ultra-Macro lens: the world?s first 2:1 magnification lens with infinity focus | Photo Rumors So, supposedly MF lens that can do a whopping 2:1 by itself, and otherwise offer infinity focus and tons of vignetting when used on FX format. 6.5cm or so...

    lens question

Your Tammy might feels too narrow on a crop sensor, but at the same time you got your almost-all-in-one zoom taken care of. Like @singlerosa said, go play and see what you feel you're missing. Primes are fun. I'd recommend picking up a vintage one to have it help you learn all the basics (you...

    55/1.2 AI conversion successful!

Though I'll admit the 1.4 unmarked, hairline stop is a hint awkwardly made. Else everything works like a champ and review will follow in a few days. $260 for this beauty was a steal. Only has 2 hairline cleaning marks on the rear element and is otherwise perfect. 2nd gen from 1967 right before...

Is my photo crappy? :( :)

Re: Is crappy my photo ? :( :) Whites are still too blown out for my tastes. Makes the shot seem a bit over-exposed. But generally, OP, its not done and ready for eval until you fully edit it.

    Sensor Gel Stick

Think its about time I got one of these for routine cleanings. I got some amount of spots when shooting in low apertures, but no idea whether its oil or just routine FX thing. Got about 36k clicks on the shutter since its replacement in spring, so definitely not pressed to try and mild Nikon for...

    Standard Zoom Decision Time...

@RON its pretty much the heart of my debate aside from IQ. From experience, if I have to zoom past 50 (could effectively call it 35) that takes quickly adjusting the flash head and confusing the heck out of the metering so the long shots are more often than not sub-par or just not very useable...

    Standard Zoom Decision Time...

So I've about scraped the cash to pull in either 28-70 or maybe even a 24-70 if I find some lucky deal, but now I'm starting to wonder whether or not I need (and to pay for) the 35-70 range of one of these lenses. This would be my predominant indoor/event lens and currently the only time I zoom...
