July 7th The weather was stink here today and due to get even worse tomorrow so don't expect anything special until that passes over! But this was fun!!!

July 6th The first is a Protea - South African native (not the kind that run around with spears) And then a little Fantail - my current nemesis and I am determined to nail one of these little suckers as a keeper but am still a bit slow for them.

July 5th A busy day and only when I sat down in front of the fire wait a well earned glass of wine did I think photography. 'Fraid that is exactly the amount of effort I made. For those interested the wine was excellent.

With a bit more direction I have tidied the photo up by cropping right to bring the eyes to the centre, removed the debris on the pavement as well as the bright water and the markings on the road. I am finally learning the importance and impact these small things have on a photo.

This is still from 4th July (pity as I have yet to take one today and the weather is awful) I think I like this one quite a lot. This is the main street towards the end of festivities - would have been too much foot traffic for a long exposure otherwise.

July 4th I took a few night shots tonight in the little village I am staying in. It was fun as they had a "Festival of Lights" parade. I missed the parade but felt comfortable afterward walking around with camera and tripod - I guess that is progress. I will process and post more later but for...

July 3rd I was concentrating on this seagull's eye. Unfortunately he/she was sitting on a post with a sign which would have detracted if I tried to show the whole bird.

July 1st All downhill now as we hit the home straight. LOL - long way to go! A quick way to get through shutter counts is to photograph these little guys. They were all over the place but man do they move!

June 30th So I have made it to the half way mark. I only just discovered this little fellow is lit up at night. Will be revisiting him when the weather is fine - that is for sure. This was a rush job to get the camera in from the rain.

June 27th Playing with my limited lighting again. Not a good idea as it becomes more evident that I have a lot to learn to get this right.

June 26th This little fella (or his/her twin) seems to come calling everyday. Not as sharp as I would like it but … I have 5 months to get a really sharp shot.

And from another angle ... This looks like I overcooked it but I never touched the luminance or colour in anyway - must just be the way the light fell. The grass in the foreground looks fine but the background looks too green!
