    I'm going AWOL too

Tomorrow I am off to see the anaesthetist for some surgery scheduled for Monday (5/26) and between now and then I have a lot to do. Tomorrow and Saturdays photos I will be able to post on Saturday night but from Sunday until whenever I have no idea if I will have access to a computer. My...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 141 Very conservative with my shutter today - as a result of the thread in "off Topic" :D The following images were taken at a much slower rate than I normally shoot as a result. No - that doesn't mean shutter speed, it means I took more time thinking about things. The first is a fence...

    A very interesting discussion

Good golly Miss Molly!! I went to bed and woke up to 4 pages of discussion - why didn't you guys wake me up so that I could take part? Some great confessions and theories here and I am pleased to read all the different approaches - the military guys talking double and single tap, the "dirty...

    A very interesting discussion

I have just had an interesting discussion with a very good photographer; We got on to the subject of preserving clicks and not just taking shots for the sake of it. She believes, and I have heard this from many sources, that preparation is key along the lines of: First think about what you want...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 140 Now this was fun and a complete rip off from @Vixen - but hey she said it was ok to do (thanks to youtube)

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 139 No mojo today … I must have been in a 'rustic' mood going by the photos. Had the 35mm on and learned a bit more about its DoF

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 138 A few months ago when the northern hemisphere folks were posting autumn colours I was amazed at some of the photos. Right now our colours are looking stunning so herewith some more beautiful leaves. I am particularly proud of this next one. I spotted the leaf in the air and tried...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 138 Lovely day here today. Started with fog and very cold and then cleared for the afternoon and a round of golf. I went out early and tried a few fog shots. I really enjoyed the next shot as I was setting up to shoot the autumn foliage when I saw the cyclist out of the corner of my...

    Front door views

The view from the front door of this place is not that flash but … I like the idea of this thread so here goes the cold and foggy street view we have this morning.

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 137 A mixed bag - trying all sorts of stuff. New Zealand is full of these old character homes and what I find amusing is they all have satellite TV dishes. This one appears to have air conditioning too.

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

So this is somewhere in between the two If nothing else this exercise has shown me that I have learned a little bit about processing - or a heck of a lot more than i did on January 1st.

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Sorry I want to put the next two as a separate post as they are the same photo processed differently. The difference is obvious but I can't decide which I prefer. I processed the first one and then thought it would be nice to show the detail in the shadow. However I am not so certain...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 136 What a fun day. I started off testing my remote trigger and flash system. Not even really trying to do anything clever - just having fun playing. "Small things amuse small minds" :o - whoever said that sure knew what he/she (there you go ladies) was talking about. For my efforts you...

    Post your latest purchases.

Nothing as flash as some of the awesome gear on this thread (and a good thread to stay well clear of ;) ) but I have wanted a remote trigger for a while and mine finally arrived today from eBay. 4 Remote control transceivers means I can have two off camera flashes triggered remotely.

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Day 135 My flatmate and I have been eyeing these mushrooms in the garden with a view to shooting them. I guess we waited too long as the snails got in first. Oh well the compensation is that my Yongnuo RF - 603N remote trigger and flash sync arrived today so I can start using off camera flash...

Not sure I have what it takes

I was sent some awesome PDFs from a very nice guy, helpful and supporting member of this forum and have heaps of reference material to get through. I live in New Zealand so I figured the landscape PDF is a good place to start. Watch this space ... Jonas ( @nidding ) you hit the nail on the head...

    Lawrence's 365 for 2014

Not satisfied with these so I went and tried my Kenko 1.4X tele converter with my 70-300mm lens on moon shots. VR off, on tripod auto focus, and self timer was a disaster - need to work out why (hint).. Hand held was better but sharpness definitely suffers with the TC on First w/out...

Not sure I have what it takes

^^^ When I take the photos this camera is capable of producing I will be very happy - thank you. @Deezey - Doug I always smile at your wise words. Actually this thread was started more to say there is so much more one can do with dedication. Sitting up all night is dedication but then so is...
