The most obvious marking you can see in this picture is the red eyes. Also, the white line on his jaw that turns up almost to the eye, females don't have that, or if they do it is very faint. The female would have a white "mask" around the eyes, but you can see that this guy is starting to get...

This immature male Wood Duck may not have all his colors yet, but he is already a master at flying up into the oak tree and picking yummy acorns. :)
