Wind and rain brings the ducks down to the lake. These were about 150 yards out so it's cropped hard and the rain didn't help the clarity but I was amazed by the variety that was there. I count 6 different species in this group.

Flying over the house, I'm about 3 miles from the airport. He was as low as the cloud cover.

The red head is a Eurasian Wigeon. I saw a local post that it was at this lake so I stopped on the way home. It was foggy, starting to rain, and he was about 300 yards out so this is cropped but it is the only time I have seen one so as they say "it is what it is". :cool:

This guy flew over just as I was getting in the car. It was raining so these are not great shots. There has been an increase of Bald Eagles along the river in this area in the last couple of years.

Horned Grebe. It was misty and rainy but I heard they were in town and didn't want to miss them. This is the 95th species of bird I have been able to photograph in the last year.

American Wigeons and Ring Neck Ducks. It was overcast and windy and the lake was very choppy as you can see by the position of the female Wigeon.

Some photographers from the Wildlife area yesterday

My 3 year old grandson wanted to take some pictures with my camera. It's a little tilted but nothing I can't fix if I want to.

A pair of Gadwalls and a pair of Hooded Mergansers just passing through after being snowbirds over the winter.

Almost as many people as geese at the lake today.

Went to the wildlife preserve with the Grandson today.

Those are not bugs...It's Snow Geese returning from the fields to the lake.

They estimate 5000+ swans on the lake or in the general area. Lake still has some ice on it.
