We went for a walk yesterday and came across this Bulldozer. Due to the way it was parked and lack of an ultra-wide, I could not get in front enough to capture the entire blade.

Is it possible to isolate a colored subject and make the rest of the image B&W? The D3100 does not have that option when taking a shot. Thanks!

Finally got a chance to use this lens. No PP except for cropping, although the D3100 was set to Vibrant. Took about 50 shots, here's a few of the better ones, rest in my galleryes:

Apparently the HDR mode is only 2 shots merged, one over and one under exposed. Seems like they did this half-way, I would have upgraded from the D3100 if it was at least a 3 shot capture.

I'm thinking of picking up a SB400 prior to going on vacation. I really like the SB700, but with travel plans it makes sense to get the 400 first. Any issues with the 400? Thanks, Rick

Does Nikon ever discount lenses? I have seen rebates, but only when buying a body with it. Buying online seems to be the cheapest way, but I notice the prices never seem to fluctuate much (at least never downwards!). Just curious, usually things go on sale the day after I buy them. Thanks

Shot this pic after work, at about 5pm. Unfortunately in my rush I forgot to change to RAW and shot at only 8mp jpeg. First moon shot with my D3100, tried in vain many times with point and shoots over the years. Used my 55-200mm, really need to upgrade to the 55-300!

When taking photos at 3 different exposures: Can you use the exposure compensation button/control (D3100) or do you have to adjust speed/aperature for each shot? Is the exposure compensation control actually changing speed/aperature or is it SIMULATING a change?
