Fillmore Glen is a state park in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. The area is full of gorges, this one seems a bit less traveled and the area is not as commercialized as the more famous Watkins Glen. Due to this fact it is more Photography friendly (less people). The gorge has several...
This is a 3 shot HDR taken on the gorge trail at Fillmore Glen, named after out 13th president. Fillmore Glen is in the fingerlakes region which is full of gorges. I prefer this spot over the more popular and commercialized Watkins Glen. There is a 1.5 mile gorge trail with 8 small bridges...
This morning I re-visited a spot to improve upon a shot I had taken last weekend. In my prior shot I noticed at about 10am the falls were in complete shade while the gorge was fully lit, creating an interesting shot. My intent was to return and expand upon that interesting effect. The major...
Have users of both formats found Fx to be significantly better than Dx in handling highlights? I've read that is the case, just wondering how much the difference is. An example is the photo below, even with tonemapping / HDR / exposure compensation, sometimes blown out highlights are hard to...
Took this yesterday at Sodus Point, NY. I used a circular polarizer to get the most out of the cloud pattern.
Nikon 16-85vr at 31mm, 1/250s, 1/1000s, 1/60s. F9, ISO 200.
I'll post the B&W in my 52 thread. Thanks for looking!
Has anyone ever come across round plastic filter cases made to the size of the filter? Looking for something to hold each individually. The oversized square containers they come in now are annoyingly large!
I'm about 300 miles from NYC, the home of B&H. Last night I ordered another accessory for my Think Tank belt system and it was at my door in about 20 hours! Most other retailers it would still be sitting in a warehouse waiting to ship!
Shot this with the Nikon 40mm 2.8 micro. 1/125s, f8, ISO100. Trying to keep all three in focus.
More from this set can be found in my project 52 thread.
Lately a topic of discussion on several threads has been if we could tell the difference between high quality dx shots verses fx. Some of our members are fortunate enough to have both great Dx and Fx cameras (Sam, Glenn, James and Marcel come to mind, I know there are more). I thought it would...
Any thoughts on the differences? I have only printed low lustre, I like the results, although the picture is not as compelling as on the monitor. What does metallic add?
Thanks!
Ok, last falls for awhile, maybe :)
I found this spot along the road and was fascinated by all the little waterfalls and moss. This area was only about 5 feet top to bottom. I wanted to capture the colors of the moss and unique little falls all around.
Shot with my nikon 16-85. HDR 3...
Shot with the Nikon 16-85vr @ 16mm. ISO 100, 1/3s, f10 and a Polarizing filter.
Working on capturing water flow. The polarizer not only helps slow the shutter speed,
but cuts the reflection off the water showing more detail.
Thanks for looking.
