    15mm Nikkor-QD.C Auto f/5.6 ultra-wide angle lens on Nikon D850

Spent some time today testing out the Nikon 15mm f5.6 on the Nikon D850 :o This lens is so much fun, although one really has to change their perspective in their mind to be able to look for subjects vast enough to make the most of the 110 degree angle of view. I decided to focus mostly on...

Nikon F2 Photomic with MB-2 drive and MD-2 pack, and family photo F2 F3HP F4S

Along with the F3 (both from a guy whose father sadly passed away and left behind a collection of vintage equipment), I received a silver Nikon F2 Photomic with the MB-2 motor drive and MD-2 battery pack. Shown with it is a truly mint condition Nikkor-P Auto 105mm f2.5 pre-AI lens. from the...

    15mm Nikkor-QD.C Auto f/5.6 ultra-wide angle lens on Nikon D850

Very happy to have received this lens yesterday in the mail. The Nikkor QD.C auto 15mm f5.6 (AI version). The three internal filters are so fun to try, especially the dark red (R60) which makes everything look like an emergency (dark with red lights on). :D Specifications from mir.com: Focal...

So what lens to shoot the moon?

    The moon shot on August 5th with Nikon D850, 800mm f5.6 AI-S, TC-301 (2x), at 1/400th, f11, ISO1250, on a Manfrotto 393 gimbal mounted on a Feisol Elite CT-3372 carbon fiber tripod.

Added Lowepro Lens Trekker 600 AW II and AW III to my collection of Lowepro bags :o And yes that's a like-new with tag unused Lowepro 650 AW second from the right. I'm not sure why Lowepro hasn't continued the Magnum series.

So what lens to shoot the moon?

Tonight I tried the Nikon 400mm f2.8 AI-S for the first time (no teleconverter) on the moon with the D850. Handheld, manual mode. Better than the Pentax 6x7 300mm :o Un-cropped version...

    Nikon Nikkor 400mm f2.8 and 800mm f5.6 AIS ... a modern view ( w Nikon D800 and D850)

Congratulations on the 400mm 👍🏻 well it's ok for a few minutes but it's still hefty...after all it's only half a pound less than the 800mm lol. Ya i'm still hoping to get a 600mm f4 AI-S as that was my first choice. Nice collection you have there. Would love the 200mm f2 as well. Ya the 800mm is...

    Nikon Nikkor 400mm f2.8 and 800mm f5.6 AIS ... a modern view ( w Nikon D800 and D850)

I got a new Feisol Elite CT-3372 carbon fiber tripod and put the Nikon 800mm f5.6 AI-S on it with the Nikon TC-301 2x converter, again with the Nikon D850. Please excuse the low quality iphone photos. I actually took a studio portrait with the 400mm f2.8 (no converter) and it turned out...

So what lens to shoot the moon?

Although now I have bigger guns, recently I shot the moon with an inexpensive Pentax 6x7 300mm lens mounted with an adapter to my Nikon D850. After cropping etc here's the image. I agree that 300mm is a bare minimum. This was handheld in manual mode. The moon is so bright that you can get away...
