Couple of new ( for me ) types of insects I shot on my backyard walk around this afternoon.

Went for a walk around the backyard this afternoon with the Nikon 105 micro, I got bitten by green ants and a marchfly, and almost stepped on a snake, but I got some more photos of flies :o.

This little flower is about 8mm (5/16") across, there are a few of them on a low shrub in one of my gardens.

Thanks Brad. Yes its an orchid. We call them a Golden Orchid, but have also heard them called Curly Brown. They grow wild in the bush around our property. This one is growing on the rocks beside the pool. It has a couple of big sprays of flowers at the moment. Here is one flower singled out. ​...

My Nikon 105 f2.8G turned up in the mail yesterday. I have found it to be a different beast to use compared to my 55D, so have spent an hour or so taking photos and fine tuning my technique to get something I am happy with. I had a lot of dud shots yesterday, but got a couple of passable ones...

Here is another from the D7100 and Nikon 70-300VR. AF @ 230mm, f8, ISO 200, 1/1250 sec. handheld. ​Cant quite make out the pilot of this one :)

Here is one from my D7100 with Nikon 70-300 VR, @ 260mm, f5.6 iso200, 1/200 sec shutter. Handheld. I have increased the exposure in aperture by about 1 stop, as it was a bit dark. Not sure how to get it to 200%, but I am guessing this must be pretty close.

This is the "Angry Ant" from back in post #649 . I have straightened it and cropped it, and enhanced it a bit in Color Efex Pro 4, and Dfine 2.0. I would like to do more to it, but my PP skills are a bit lacking, this was about as good as I could get it. D7100, AF Micro Nikkor 55D f2.8, @ f16...
