    The sun was getting too low by the time I got home for the Tamron 150-600, so I switched to the 105 macro lens. I managed to find a few insects but they were few and far between, the temperature is starting to drop now, so that may have something to do with it.

    Macro Ringlight

    I bought a Yongnuo MR-58. I found it disappointing, with some perseverance you could get just passable shots. The best low cost flash set-up is using the onboard flash on your camera combined with the packing foam diffuser on the end of the lens , AKA " The Scott Murray Diffuser " for details...

    Macro on a budget

    Here are a few shots taken with the AF55 D on the D7100. The close-up of the leaf shows how sharp this lens is. For macro shots on the D7100, I still use manual focus. I also use this lens for small product photography, I use AF for this.
