    Help! What to buy?

I'm going on holiday in September and want to have the best gear I can to maximise my chances of taking great photos. I know this is more down to me than the equipment but camera or lenses (+filters) can't hurt. At a push I have around £500-£550 to spend. The options I'm considering are as...

Want to take a macro then this is the thread.

Without the milk bottle diffuser and onboard flash, these shots of spiders in my dark shed would have been impossible.

Thanks for this, I pretty much copied your design and it has definitely helped! This is pretty much my set up now, with more, less or no extension tubes, attached to the 55mm 2.8 on my D3200, not the F80 used as a model in this shot.

Just googled it and I agree, there were a couple of others that looked even more like the muscovy pics on google.

I don't what this guy was? Not in my bird book, thinking its some sort of domestic duck thing or an exotic. I call him Elvis. (Just noticed pink line on the right side of some of my images. No idea what that is or why it's there?) Elvis likes to sing

    Post your Birds in Flight

These are far from the sharpest or cleanest images but I think it this case its the subject that counts more and I was happy to capture the moment. First time visiting this nature reserve on the Northumbria coast and there were at least three of these beauties flying around. Fairly grey overcast...

Want to take a macro then this is the thread.

Found a dead fly to practice on. This time with extension tubes attached to the 55mm. I think I might get addicted to macro photography, gives a whole new perspective on things which is fascinating.

    Dodgy deals?

I'm looking into buying a d7100 body at some point this year, so naturally I'm looking at the best deals out there, because why pay more, right? There seems to be a fair few companies selling the D7100 body new, for less than I could get a used one for on sites like MPBphotographic. They also...

Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD

I have this lens and although I don't have much to compare it to, just a non VR kit 55-200, I've been very impressed with it. As you say the VC is especially good! I need to do more to work out its sweet spot but around 270mm at f/8 seems sharper than at 300mm wide open but that's what you'd...

Want to take a macro then this is the thread.

I've had a macro lens for all of a few days now and wouldn't say I have a macro setup. Just my D3200 and a Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 AIS micro. No metering, no TTL flash metering and manual focus. I like the idea of using the built in flash and a homemade foam diffuser but can't see how I'd attach one...

    Pets/"Petography" Thread!

My manic spaniel... Taken with my new 55mm 2.8 at something like f/8 1/500 ISO 400. My usual camera and lens combo's autofocus can't keep up with my dog anyway, so manual focus and a little pray and spray seems just as effective. Image cropped for composition and to remove some ugly building...

    Macro on a budget

Here's an early test shot. First the original image, with minor PP and then a tighter crop of the same shot. Looks promising to me,can't wait to try it out in daylight tomorrow.
