I didn't buy this, but I made it...with the help of my next door neighbour, who just happens to be a master welder. I made the ring and tube out of 1/8" thick aluminum, and the neighbour welded them together to form a beauty dish adapter for my cheapo strobe light.

    My new Beauty Dish! :)

Picked this up last week. 20" beauty dish with sock. Right now, I use it with my speedlights, but I'm in the process of making an adapter for it to be able to use my studio strobe. Pictures to follow. Here's a few shots of the dish, and an example of the effect it gives on a "subject" (me). :)

    My new Phantom

If I may make a suggestion, guys, for your landing gear on those things.....tie wrap some foam noodles around the bottom of the landing gear to soften the landing AND to protect the camera. Trust me, I know from experience. :) Similar to what's on the bottom of this octocopter.

Help with getting the external flash to work when using a trigger...

You want to trigger the YN560 III off camera, right? Get yourself the YN560-TX. The YN560 III has a built in receiver, so no extra trigger is need when using the YN560-TX. The -TX will trigger ALL YN560 III's. If not using the -TX, get yourself the RF603n triggers. Inexpensive and fully...

I need help to choose between VELBON SHERPA 450R and VELBON SHERPA 4370D

Good choice. FYI, the 3 way head that's on there can be replaced with other heads. I'd like to recommend this one, and it won't break the bank:

Ah! I just figured out what you're doing! :) Took me a while there. :) OK...those two alan head screws are "locating screws" that fit into the two slots on the ball head: You don't slide the plate in from the side...you drop it in from the top: ...then lock it down with the knob: Hope...

Is VR necessary when shooting motocross and car racing?

I used to shoot motorcycle races a few years ago using a D200 and a 55-300 lens. The odd time I would use a monopod to pan/shoot, but mostly hand held, and at no time did I use VR. It's just not necessary at faster shutter speeds ( I was shooting usually between 1/500 to 1/1000).

What's The "Best" Photo You Took In 2014 ... Ready, GO!!!

WOW! How do I pick! I've gone through a lot of shots after I read what BDH had suggested. I have 3 that I really like, but the one I like most is this one of the outdoors. To me, the power of Mother Nature is always awe inspiring and full of wonder. I do mostly portraits of people, but this I...

    Hello Everyone

Welcome to Nikonites, Rachelle. I'm sure you'll love it here, and learn from it. As for taking blurry photos.....your camera should have provision to attach a tripod to it...at the very least a monopod, which will give you the stability you need to take sharp photos. See the screw hole to the...
