Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

Another question for you, Fred. Is there much advantage to getting Gigapixel. I can get Denoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel as a bundle for $200. I can get Sharpen and Denoise for $160, and I have PS, with Super Zoom filter to upscale a heavily cropped image. Is there a lot of advantage to Gigapixel...

Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

A 16 GB stick plus the 4GB incorporated in the motherboard maxes this thing out at 20GB. I was going to have BB put it in this morning, but they said they didn't carry the RAM I need. I would have to order it off the internet and bring it in. I have Totaltech for another month, so I was going to...

Computer upgrade for LR and possibly Topaz

I'm running an older (5yrs) Lenovo with an I5 processor and 8 GB of RAM. After LR update last year, LR has often run slow and sometimes becomes unresponsive. Other than that, the computer suits my needs. I've thought about upgrading the RAM to hopefully solve this, and I'm also thinking about...

Memory Access Lamp remains on even when power off and card removed

Ran across this. Not sure it will work, but probably worth trying. Memory access light stays on

    PSA, check your mounting plate.

That is a possibility, I guess, but the most likely scenario in my mind is that I didn't tighten it down properly. I do remember thinking I felt a little bit of odd clunking while following birds, but was engrossed in what I was doing. I definitely won't ignore that in the future, and...

    PSA, check your mounting plate.

Went out to take some BIF and other wildlife pictures this morning. Shortly after dawn, I mounted up the trusty Z5 and 200-500 F5.6 lens to my new tripod and set off to get some nice images. AT the end of the session, as I was heading back down the trail to the car, I noticed something wasn't...

    Post Your Birds (3)

Got back over to the Audubon Swamp Garden this morning. Had a few problems, but managed to come back with a few keepers.

    Post your Birds in Flight

I've some BIF before, but had a chance to shoot a lot of them this morning. Herons were nesting and flying back and forth between the nests on the little island to the trees in the surrounding woods. I have a lot to learn, and need to change a few settings, but got a few keepers.

    Woody's Vea La Luz 2023

My guess for the last 3 waxwing pictures would be something like: no 1: 11.2m, no 2: 7.08m and no 3: 7.1m. All with a 500mm lens mounted on a Nikon D500. +1 on the great pictures.

    No monochrome

Unless you are looking to have a B&W display, I would shoot it in RAW, color and then convert to B&W post processing. You have a ton of control that way. In Lightroom you have sliders for each individual color, and can see what those level changes do to the B&W image.

We have other issues to deal with. Things like hurricanes and critters like this one.

    Catherder's 2023 Photo Mish Mash

Thanks, we don't have any waterfalls in my area, but we do have moving water. Again, those are some very nice images.
