    Should I replace my tripod?

I'm using aperture priority mode for exposure and manually choosing the ASA. I keep an eye on the shutter speeds and adjust as necessary. I've been trying to keep my shutter speeds at or above 1/1000 sec. That may not be fast enough for stopping some of the wing motion. Of course, I was hoping...

    Should I replace my tripod?

Well, the Pup and I made it to the Center today. Full sun, which is not as good as overcast. The tripod worked well. The main issue I had was sitting down while taking pictures. Next time I should put the tripod up nearly full height, and move off to the side of the "bleachers". It was too...

    Z 800mm f/6.3

I would love to have a native mount long lens for my Z5. Unfortunately, those are a little rich for my blood. I had to settle for the 200-500 F mount and an FTZ adapter. I'm impressed with the performance of the 200-500, although I do wonder what one of the newer Z mount long teles is capable of.

    Should I replace my tripod?

And here is the tripod fully extended. If you notice, it even has a hook to hang a weight on the bottom of the center post, to increase stability. The legs are a larger diameter than the Bogen 3021 it is replacing, and has over twice the weight capacity. The twist locks are much quicker and...

    Should I replace my tripod?

Well, the new tripod was on the front porch this afternoon. I unboxed it and tried it out. Initial impressions are impressive. It seems like a quality piece of gear, although there are a few plastic parts that may keep it from being a piece of gear you can hand down to your kids and grandkids...

I just bought the D5600 used and have a few questions

The zoom is controlled by the large rubber ring closer to the body of the camera. The manual focus ring is the small rubber ring at the very front of the camera. The two are not connected. AF is done by the camera when you push the shutter button. Most folks push it halfway down and wait for...

I just bought the D5600 used and have a few questions

Well, I hope you get this straightened out soon. My daughter has a D5600 with that lens, and several others and loves the camera. I assume you don't have another lens to try out. To rule out the lens, you might be able to get a local camera retailer to allow you to mount one of their lenses to...

I just bought the D5600 used and have a few questions

Did you push the button on the zoom ring and twist the ring clockwise until it reaches 18mm on the ring?

You aren't in LV mode are you? You might try a reset to factory settings.

    Should I replace my tripod?

I will write up a review after I get it. It's supposed to come in middle of the week. I won't wait for my birthday. I know, no self control. The Pup and I are planning on the twice delayed trip to the Birds of Prey center later in the week. If it comes on time I will get a chance to try it out...

    Should I replace my tripod?

Well, until recently, it was occasional use. Since I got the long tele and a gimbal head, I use it a lot. I think I may have talked myself into one. I really like the looks of that Benro. I think the biggest problem is that I hate to replace something that is still working, unless it is a...

    Should I replace my tripod?

Not sure I could find the tripod I want used. I checked out KEH and B&H, and nothing popped up that looked likely. There were a couple that I could have lived with, but not what I really wanted. Local pawn shops likely to only have Wally World specials that are beat up and priced near new retail.

    Should I replace my tripod?

Yes, I looked at the Benro online as a possibility if I decide to upgrade. I agree that I like twist locks better. The levers are prone to damage, although at my age I don't need to look much past 15 years of use. I also prefer 3 section. They are longer, but are quicker to deploy vs 4 section...

    Should I replace my tripod?

Yes, I can get repair parts. They are either used, or NOS, and the critical component is plastic. It would cost over$100 to replace all 6 levers. Not worth it. The repairs I made are working just fine, and I don't anticipate a sudden failure, I can lock or unlock the segment with an 8mm socket...
