    Post your Firework Photos

It would probably look better to most people but, as I mentioned, that hand added something extra to the photo for those who were there and knew who's hand it was.

    Post your Firework Photos

We watched the fireworks from a boat this year, so there was no way for me to do a long exposure and get multiple bursts. I did get one shot we all enjoyed as it captured the upraised hand of one of the group who is known for enthusiastically raising her hands up over her head... -- Nikon...

    58mm f/1.4G bokeh

I just received a new-to-me AF-S 58mm f/1.4G and took a few shots indoors after doing the necessary Autofocus Fine Tune (+11). Don't mind the dust; just try to look at the bokeh... ;) ...at f/1.4 ...at f/2 I'm excited about adding this lens to my assortment of Nikkor "standard" primes!

I just bought a Canon Selphy CP1300 4x6 photo printer -- what fun!

I didn't even know these things existed! I've grown to hate inkjet printers over the years, but this little dye sublimation printer is a joy to use. At about .31 cents for a 4x6 print, it's competitive to the pharmacy/photo lab, but much more fun. You can even run it on a battery for totally...

    Post Your D500 Shots

I got out for a little bit with the D500 and an older AF-S 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G kit lens. I really enjoy this budget lens. By the way... what's the secret to posting images that look like the originals? All these JPEGS I converted from RAW files are very sharp but look very soft once...

Finally... the solution to the rubber body cover on older cameras getting sticky?

. 303 is the brand... I also use 303's "automotive" protectant. It sure seems like the same stuff as the "aerospace" protectant. :) I use it to clean and treat my fly fishing lines, my car's dash and door skins, etc. I use their fabric protectant on my boat cover. Good stuff. I was...

Finally... the solution to the rubber body cover on older cameras getting sticky?

My old D200 rubber body covering was getting really sticky. I tried cleaning it with warm water, warm water and soap, Simple Green, rubbing alcohol... all to no avail. It still felt disgusting. Last night, I wiped it down with a cloth wet with 303 Protectant, a rubber/vinyl/plastic...

    Canon Selphie CP1300 4x6 printer

Producing 4x6 dye sublimation prints at about .35 USD each sounds attractive. Reviews are excellent. I'm very tempted, for sharing snapshots. Anyone here using one?

I finally gave in and now have doubts about my decision...

I got out for a short hike with the new D500 this afternoon. I had the impressive, under-rated AF-S 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G mounted and my old AF 180mm f/2.8 with me in my daypack. It was a dark, dreary, overcast day. (And the wonderful Adirondack black flies were out! :( ) I'll have to do some...

I finally gave in and now have doubts about my decision...

I love my D750 and my old D200 (and the Nikon film bodies that I just can't seem to let go of), but every time I read about the D500, I feel like I should get one before they're gone. I ordered a new one from B&H last night. :)

Finally broke down and purchased a very nice 50mm f/1.2 AI-S

They are as challenging to use wide open as I had heard. My initial shots up close at an AF fine tuning target showed I was missing focus about half the time. It's surprising how much more critical the focus is with this lens wide open vs. the f/1.4 at near subjects. I did better after a...

    Smithsonian Magazine Photo Winners

Great shots! I took a few shots very similar to the "Ants and Aphids" photo many years ago on Provia slide film... I sure could have used the dynamic range my D750's sensor has today:

Post your favorite March 2022 shot

I know there is nothing special or artistic about this shot, but the way the AF-S 35mm f/1.8G, shot wide open, renders the image, it makes me want to go back to 1920 and spend time riding this motorcycle. I keep looking at this shot, again and again. Maybe it's not as appealing to...

Nikon is running their 10% off refurbished items sale

Lots of cameras, lenses and other items to choose from... It seems like folks have very good luck purchasing refurbed stuff from Nikon, so I bit the bullet and ordered an AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G. I have the f/1.8G version and I'm happy with it. The f/1.4G gets mixed reviews and though some of...
