    What do you think?

I'm with TwistedThrottle on composition. I would like to see it with the birds moved more to the right, assuming you have some wiggle room in the original image. And addressing Nikonpup's suggestion, I've successfully, I believe, managed to brighten the eyes on birds using a radial gradient...

    200-500 F5.6 first impressions

I finally got a chance to go do some shooting in the local area today. Exclusively used the 200-500. There were one or two shots I would have liked to use the 24-70, but wasn't going to go through the hassle of unmounting and stowing the monster, then put it back on. AF worked very well. There...

    Raise your hand, Z owners!

I've had my Z5 since Feb this year. I haven't had a chance to use it as much as I might like, I've only got a couple K on it. Most of that has been around the yard. I was using the hand me down D3400 for about 6 months prior to that. The more I use the Z5, the more I hate to go back to the...

Post your pictures that beg for a caption.

OK, I posted this in the squirrel thread, but this morning decided it really needed a caption. Hope that double posting a picture isn't a breach of etiquette. What is this "perloo" you speak of?

A guy put a copy of this on my desk at work one day. FYI, my name is Doug.

    Feedback wanted

I think I ought to reshoot this when I get a chance. Hopefully, my daughter and I will be free to make some half day trips in a few months. I should be able to take some more of this statue perhaps from different angle, and maybe a few verticals. Thanks to all for the feedback. I may try...

To further isolate the subject, I lightened it some. I also darkened the background some, and went back to a little more blue to contrast with the warm colors in the statue. Not quite as far as Peter went with the darkening. And, no, Peter I don't mind at all that someone edits one of my photos...

    Feedback wanted

I've been going back over some photos I have on my hard drive and reworking some using techniques I have been experimenting with in Lightroom. I ran across this photo and decided to try something a little different. I am somewhat undecided about the treatment of the background. The idea was to...

What camera really got you going with photography?

My dad was into photography, and I became mildly interested in college, so he gave me his old Argus C-4. After I got married the bug bit me hard and I didn't have much money. I bought a used Practica SLR, don't remember the model. Just a basic manual 35mm SLR that took the Pentax universal screw...

She's back. Got another couple decent shots. This was as close as she would let me get. Not sure about the composition on this one. I've got room to include more of a border with the tail. Something about it looks a little off, but I wanted to get the bird as large as decent composition...

    Z6ii arrived!

Well, I looked hard at my Z5 and then got out the old non working Pentax. With the exception of the plastic guards, which come off very easily, the two appear to be identical. Just rotate the ring around to where the split is just in front of the bore through the stud on the camera. Then slip...

They weren't playing hard to get here. It is a warm, rather than surface of the Sun day today, so I tried going outside with the monopod and hanging out up against the wall. The birds quickly got used to me being there, especially after I put the Z5 in silent mode. Not great, but the outside...

Well, I'm getting better with my backyard bird feeder pics. I still have a long way to go. When the weather cools, I will try setting up in the yard and see if the birds will get used to me being there. I also need to see if I can arrange something other than this ugly plastic feeder as a backdrop.

    Post your Sunrises

That was taken at the Boneyard beach nearby. We got lucky and had some cloud cover to give some real color and interest to the sky. I'm looking forward to getting back there this late fall/winter. The gate opens at 6:00 AM, and you have at least a half hour drive/walk from the gate to the beach...
