    Newbie to Nikon

Welcome. Unfortunately you joined at a time when the forum software has recently been changed/upgraded, so everyone is focused in on chasing bugs in the system, and learning a new way of navigating around the forum. I'm a little more down the road of a similar situation. I was into film...

Black & white images with one selective colour

I tried NX briefly before getting Lightroom. My impression was that it was similar in layout to Lightroom. What I do in Lightroom is to create a mask of the item I want to remain in color and then invert it, so that everything else is selected. I then desaturate the mask. Don't know if NX has...

    FILE SIZE LIMIT

Well, let me try a bigger file than we used to be able to post. This one is 1.27 MB. OK, it wouldn't load, giving me an error that the file is too large. I posted the same image in a smaller file size, which was 417 KB. I suspect that 1MB is the limit, although it might not have liked the fact...

    New Forum

I see a lot of attachments just show up as attachment 1234, and clicking on it gives an error. Others display as photos just fine.

    What happened to the site?

Site has been down for the last several days. At least it has for me. Finally, today it came back up. I logged in, but it's totally different than before, and there are no explanations and I see no new posts for the last couple of days. Just wondering what is going on.

    Post your panoramic shots.

These were 6 and 7 shots respectively, and were shot on a tripod. I went ahead and made some adjustments in distortion in Lightroom in the finished photo, rather than starting from scratch and adjusting the distortion as part of the stitching process in Lightroom. I'm not sure including the...

    Post your panoramic shots.

Re: Let's see some stitched panoramas… This is my first attempt at panorama shots. It was taken at a nearby park that contains the remains of old rice fields from an antebellum plantation. They have a dock with boats you can either take out yourself or pay for a guided tour. There was a group...

    Nikon 70-200 f/4 G Lens

We have a raptor rescue center nearby. They have demonstrations with some of the birds they cannot let back into the wild. Once a month they have a photographers day where you can get even better access to the birds. Some of the birds fly pretty close to the visitors. One of the most impressive...

    Latest update to Lightroom

I updated Lightroom today, and discovered a new feature in masks. Don't know how long this has been out, but there is now an object option for masks. You highlight the rough area of the object you want to select and it refines it to nice sharp edges. I have only used it twice, but got good...

Took some more today. Unfortunately, it mostly seems to be Carolina Chickadees today. Fortunately, they don't seem too shy. After editing that one, it gave me an idea for some changes to the one I posted yesterday. I think portrait orientation goes a long way to minimize the distracting...

    nice shirt?

This was my Father's Day present this year. My dad had a Rollie 3.5F. It was his "baby" for many years. I got it when he passed and took pictures with it for many years. Last year I passed it on to my niece who is interested in film photography. I really love that camera.
