    Semi retired

Something else to consider. You are used to a prosumer camera. It sounds like you are going to be making money with your photography. It also sounds like you don't have much in the way of older DX lenses. Assuming that, I would suggest you look at a mirrorless camera in the prosumer line. You...

    Advice on composition

I've already posted these elsewhere here, but these were my attempt to do just that.

    Advice on composition

Just for comparison, here's another of the series that doesn't have the issue with the folks in the chair, or leaning columns. Unfortunately, this car has a bit of a different look, which doesn't appeal to me as much, and the reindeer accouterments are somewhat distracting.

    Heron consuming Rodent

Judging by the file numbers generated by the camera, the last one was taken before the first two.

    Advice on composition

Well, Fred, that does help balance out the image. Problem is that I know Magnolia well enough that that big hedge that I know isn't really there doesn't quite set just right in my mind. Was that AI fill? After doing some thinking, and playing around a bit in LR and PS, I came up with this...

    Advice on composition

I never really noticed the distortion on the columns. To be honest, since it is a forced perspective shot, it really doesn't bother me. I'm sure some may find it distracting.

    EVF Not Working

Probably time to call Nikon CS.

    Post Your Automotive Shots!

I was quite happy with the image quality of the Z5/24-70 combo today. This first one is a little more artsy than usual for me. Looks like something the Pup might take. She wandered over the cars just a few minutes before they left. Managed to just get two shots. I would have taken more, had I...

    EVF Not Working

My Z5 has that option. I have them all checked, which allows me to select any one of them with the EVF button beside the viewfinder.

    Advice on composition

I shot some automotive pictures today. Not in my wheelhouse, but I was happy with some of the results. This one image has me scratching my head about composition. This is the image as framed in the camera with no cropping. I like the look of the columns to the right as it brings to mind...

    Post Your Automotive Shots!

The Pup and I went to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens to shoot some macro. They had a small show of Model A cars in front of the plantation house. I had my trusty 24-70 F4 lens with me, and mounted it up for a few shots.

    Getting a 'hard' look?

I think you will find that it is going to be more about post processing, than how they are shot. I have a couple pics I shot of my neighbor's grandkids, and they have somewhat of the same look. I didn't do anything special. They were shot outside, later in the afternoon, so there was no direct...

Peter, I am starting to be able to tell which images are yours, before I look at the avatar. That's not a bad thing, BTW.

Photographer that used developing chemicals as a booby-trap

Not an explosive, but the nastiest chemical I had in my darkroom was farmers reducer. potassium ferricyanide and sodium thiosulfate I also remember they used to sell antistatic brushes with a little bit of polonium on a strip.

    Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

I was trying to photograph some kind of bee on a flower. Suddenly a yellow jacket fly in and grabbed him and flew off with him. This was all I got.

    Macro at Cypress Gardens

Well, wife is doing better and I was able to get away for a couple hours and see if I could get a few shots at Cypress. It was a reasonably warm day, so there were a few critters out and about. This is probably my favorite. I had to shoot at an awkward stance and had a hard time getting focus...
