    Godox it32 with X5N trigger

I have the Godox 685 with the Xpro trigger for Nikon. The flash works very well. The trigger works quite well, also. It does, however, have a learning curve. Once you get the secret handshake down, it's fairly smooth sailing. That looks like a nice, simple system for remote flash operation...

    Problem with multi-flash

Very nice! Good to know the flash doesn't spook them.

    Problem with multi-flash

Sorry, I can't help you with your Nikon flash setup, I use a Godox for my macro work. I would be interested in your experience and images when you get this worked out. I started taking hummingbird pictures last year, and really enjoyed it. I didn't use flash. I was able to get fast enough...

    VARIABLE ND FILTERS

My daughter tried one of the variable NDs. It had lots of issues with "waves" appearing in the image from time to time. My quick research online revealed that this is a common problem with variable NDs. I purchased a 10 stop fixed ND from K&F Concepts. They are neither the most expensive, nor...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets 2026

Here is a better image of the same subject. I had two other shots that included more on either side. I made a panorama of them, although it has very little wider aspect ratio than the normal 3:2. It does give a little more margin to the turtle on the left and gator on the right. Speaking of...

Thinking about a camera harness system

My first outing today with the new Cotton Carrier. I had already adjusted everything, so it went right on without a hitch. I did forget to attach the safety strap until about 15 minutes in. Hopefully, that will become automatic. Found that the safety strap fouled on the lens foot when I pulled...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets 2026

Another slow day at Magnolia. This is my first outing since getting over covid. Haven't been out shooting in almost a month. Very heavy fog early in the morning, clearing by mid morning.

Time Change - Spring Forward 2026

Well, I've never been one for napping, unless I'm really short on sleep, or sick. I spent most of my working life on an evening shift, not getting home till after midnight. I've adapted to getting up earlier since retirement, but still am not a get up with the sun person.

Time Change - Spring Forward 2026

I always hate it in the middle of the summer when the sun doesn't go down until after 9:00 PM. I don't live in a northern latitude. The only upside for me is that in the spring, it's a little easier getting up to go on a photo outing and be in the field when the sun is coming up.

Already? I've been enjoying the sun going down well before bedtime.

    Anyone use the 1.4 TC?

Thanks for the feedback, Woody. If I could use it on my 105 micro, it would be a done deal. Unfortunately, The rear element of the 105 is too close to the mount to clear the TC, and the extension tubes I have have a rectangular mask that likely would interfere with mounting. Not sure how often...

Tips for Photographing Mobile Game Screens or Displays Clearly?

I've not really had much experience photographing scenes with a screen in it. I can address the glare issue. Try using a circular polarizing filter. You will need to turn the filter (it's designed to be rotated while mounted on the camera), until the glare goes away. If you don't own one, they...

    Anyone use the 1.4 TC?

I'm looking at trading in my Z5 and have thought about using the proceeds to get something useful. While I have two holes in my lenses, 70-200 and ultra wide, I really am not sure I would use either of them enough to justify spending the money. I have thought about a teleconverter. I've looked...

    New Member from Tennessee

Welcome. I would have liked to pick your brains a good few years ago. I used to do a lot of diving in the local rivers here around Charleston SC. I also did a lot of volunteer work in underwater archaeology with the state institute. I had something of in interest in the movement of artifacts...

    trouble with Z9 settings

What exposure mode are you using? If the camera switched modes, it could be that one of your buttons is programmed for a mode change, and you accidentally pushed it. I sometimes hit one of the FN buttons unawares on my Z8. Regardless of mode, you need to keep an eye on things when shooting...
