    First Images With the 180-600

We are flexible with birthday/Christmas gifts. Sometimes I'll get something for my daughter several months before her birthday, and if it's either a needed item, or something she will use a lot, I'll give it to her early. This was a deal where it was going to be given something toward me buying...

    First Images With the 180-600

I know, I was going to wait for Christmas to unwrap and use the 180-600. I was doing really well, then our nature photography club had to move the monthly outing this Saturday to Magnolia Plantation. This time of year birds are the main draw, unless they have the Model A cars this weekend. I...

Mount old MF lens on Nikon d3300

Don't forget the old F/16 rule. In bright daylight F/16 with the shutter speed of the reciprocal of the ASA (ISO in digital cameras). That means full sun daylight with F/16 and 1/100 sec at ISO 100. You can change settings as needed as long as you keep the equation balanced. As an example, raise...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

I think I like it better as well. There is something about the B&W version, though.

Went digging around in the pile of cut fallen branches in the back yard and got these. And the B&W version.

    Post your men/ladies at work

I spent nearly 40 years working for the Post Office. I dreaded the Christmas season every year. It's nice to be able to enjoy the season again.

    9 months with the Z8

It's been 9 months since I, rather unexpectedly, ended up with a Z8. I thought it might be time to give an update on my experience with it. Despite having to carefully budget my hobby money for most of my life, I have been fortunate enough to have used a few exceptional cameras. My dad's Rollei...

    Woody's Hermosa Luz 2025

Great B&W. We have neither mountains nor snow here. Well, maybe once every 10 years or so. That's for the snow, not the mountains.

    Calendar printing advice

The Pup and I have put together a calendar featuring some of this year's work from both of us. We were thinking about printing about 10 of them for friends and family. We aren't necessarily doing this for Christmas, but more as a fun project, but would probably be looking to get them out either...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Well, we had a good time. No images to get excited about. I managed to hit the tide just right, and fortunately, they are opening the gate a full hour before actual sunrise. That means that with the 15 minute drive from the gate to the parking lot, 5 minutes to get your gear together and a 15...

Dumb Jokes Posted Here.... if you dare.

Well, the removal of the r before s predates the split between the colonies and England, and may go back as far as Shakespeare. No one calls bass by the name barse anymore. Other examples are horse/hoss, curse/cuss and garsh/gash.

Up at 3:45 AM. About to walk out the door with the Pup to drive an hour and a half, walk 1/2 mile and be on the beach at sunrise. And I can only drink decaf these days. :coffee:

(newbie) Need some help getting a ring flash to work

I do a lot of macro work. I use flash for the majority of it. I use a different setup, a normal shoe mounted flash with a macro diffuser, but the concepts are the same. My guess from your description, is that you are using a large aperture. You will probably need to stop down to F/11 or F/16...
