Why I will buy a D700 over other cameras

Thanks so much Bill.
Remember I had a lot of kit from the Maxxum/Sony sell off sold to fund this deal quickly.....your time will come!

Thinking at this point I would like to flip the 60 f2.8 for an 85 1.8 but I will play with it and see took a couple snaps with it and it is super sharp. Searched the forums and didn't see a lot of discussion about it so might post a thread. The 70-300 VR looks killer, pretty excited about it! All the gear is virtually unused. Fellow bought it and never used it, moved on to a high end point and shot.

Boom! Dealeo for me! I am going to be busy for a while!

Sounds like you got an excellent deal buddy, and you might like that 60mm if you like macro shots, and it might also work well for portraits too sometimes. Anyway I'm sure you'll have a blast with your new Nikon and lenses! :D

Just completed Laurie's video tour/tutorial referenced in this thread, ready to rumble ha ha! Lots of trickery in this mighty beast!

My dog is already very familiar with the 60 f2.8! A new dog annoyance device.

Grrrrr.....

wow,, such a popular thread, I have the D700 and also the D800,, and do lean a bit toward the D800 for those shots
that absolutely need the most pixels and or give me just a bit more cropping room, but otherwise really split hairs.

I do like the dual slots, and improved Live view, but I switch between the two cameras and barely notice the difference.

a low count D700 at say 800 dollar range is a bargain now.

Day 0ne, JPEGS only a few crops....

Decided to let Nikon handle the details and just focus on handling....all JPEGS I set ISO as always and let P mode run here changing setting as I deemed necessary.

Any one interested in detail on what they are looking at ask. Most shots Narragansett RI

@hrstrat57 it seems to me we need some night street scenes and some close up shots
Anyway plenty of D700 material out there, I bet we see a lot of it in the adverts that chase us everywhere.

Glad to see you amuse yourself with your new toy

That's it for now, decent day 1, nothing spectacular and for sure nothing technical but a lot of fun!

All pics with either 35-70 F2.8 D AF or 70-300 AF VR...pretty nice walk around kit I think!

Maybe I will use my little pet thread to document my D700 journey....first baby steps taken!

Surf will be raging tomorrow, hopefully I can get out there and take some snaps!

Yep on the to do list! Summer is hoppin' around here.....I will venture over 1000 ISO with this camera for the very first time...expect some disasters ha ha!

Surf's Up Point Judith RI

All strong riders today, 1 wipeout shot took about 500 pics....brought the AA batteries, man this thing blazes with the MB D10. Spectator next to me said " man that is some serious gear, that thing sounds like a machine gun!"

Again cropping only...JPEGS straight out of the camera no other processing, zero.
