wow, I like that framing a lot better. I'm surprised you got it before everyone swarmed in there.
Thx! Did you shoot horizontal or vertical? I did have to crop the leg of someone's tripod.

Terrific shots, John and Eduard! My widest was only 24mm this time. And jdeg, I agree everyone swarmed in there! Some people didn't care if they stood in front of someone who was about to take a shot. And then there were a few who were eyeballing what others were taking--you could see them craning their necks trying to see the perspective from the photographers point of view. lol!
By the way, there were a couple of Nikonians there, but I believe we Nikonites outnumbered any other group!![]()
vertical - I cropped several lenses/heads out of the bottom, which is why I didn't get more of the courtyard/ground.Thx! Did you shoot horizontal or vertical? I did have to crop the leg of someone's tripod.
Great photos, guys. You're making me insanely jealous. The walk in my area was cancelled due to rain.
Even my backup walk got cancelled. SIGH!
I did have to crop the leg of someone's tripod.
Ooooo - my turn!!
I have a shot with the tripod leg in it as well. Eduard, I think I must crouched in the corner of the doorway off camera left while you were shooting this - unless you're being nice and cropped me out as well. After the scramble to shoot ivy in the first courtyard I decided to try and avoid other cameras in certain areas, so my apologies if I got in anyone's way.
Here's my shot from in there, shooting across the ceiling at the far end of the first doorway.
Looks like the first ever Fro Knows Photo and Nikonites synergy, haha (not my photo - I think group leader took it):
Here are a couple of my fountain shots.
And I shot this one from the bottom of a set of stairs looking upwards.

That fountain is so hard to frame, primarily because it's so hard to get it without someone or something in the shot you don't want. I waited on the far side shooting back towards the Wilson School for a while (as I lost you guys) and it didn't matter. Going to need to stop in there on a weekday when the kids are out of session I guess.
I really like this angle, but I'm thinking maybe a crop closer to square? There's almost too much tree where I lose the fountain. Here's a perfectly square crop...

I will be going back to Princeton more frequently if time allows it--was only there a few times in the 90s. I couldn't find the one building I really wanted to photograph. That area is so beautiful, and the architecture is incredible!
And I'm amazed you know the names of so many of their buildings!
By the way, the fountain IS the last place where I saw you sitting--thought you might be doing HDR as you hadn't moved from that one spot!
Tacking 'em on as I finish them, which lately means before 7AM.
This was the only angle I could get where people were no longer a problem.
Just curious, has anyone submitted their official photo yet? I was wondering if it's possible to see the other entries from the walk after you've submitted your?
I submitted mine but don't see any way to view the photos uploaded by others. Also--just so you know, once you upload your submission, you DO have the ability to change your mind and upload something different. I haven't tried the option of changing my mind, but there is a button which is supposed to allow it. And according to Chris' email, we have until 12 noon on October 14th.
When I went to our walk page, I wasn't logged in (IE9 problems so now using Chrome). Before logging in, it said something about joining a walk and being able to share photos. Once I logged in, I don't see any way to share photos via the walk site.
