Finally pulled the trigger on a flying camera
B&H twisted my arm with a daily special - bought the BeBop2 with Skycontroller (original big one).

Batteries are charging and not sure when I'll get my first flight in but can't wait. In the mean time did a photo version of an unboxing video which I'll post in a thread I'll start about my Bebopping Adventures

Hey @Woodyg3, You will have to let me know how you like that Tamron. I love my 200 -500 but the weight is to much some times. Been thinking about that lens as. A more practical lens for me.

Well the old laptop... not really that old. Could no longer hold it smoke and it let go the hard drive with a puff. I had to replace it at a most inopportune time, but that is the way it goes. I did get a decent replacement. It came with a I7 intel processor, with a 256 Solids State Drive and a 1 TB Hard Drive. I am still getting it set up but I like having LR and PS on the SSD. It loads much quicker and seems to run faster.

Hi Dan. I don't know if you have seen this thread, but I hvae made a few comments on the 100-400 there.

https://nikonites.com/telephoto/40765-tamron-100-400-a.html?highlight=tamron+100-400#axzz55nzO3KRV

I'm pretty impressed with the sharpness and AF accuracy and speed. You have to twist the zoom ring a long ways to get from 100-400, which is a little annoying. It is pretty light, but it feeld very solid and appears to be buile quite well. I'll know more as I continue to shoot with it. :)

Thanks Woody, I will check out that thread. I have been impressed with the new 70-200 by Tamron for the speed and accuracy of focus. It is fast. I wondered if that might be the case of the 1000-400.

Dan, I don't have this lens, but I'm not sure if it comes with a hood and a tripod foot. It looks like the foot might be optional. Didn't see anything about a hood (just so you know in case you decide to try the lens). Woody, I love the images you get with it. In your own opinion, how would you rate its images compared with your Nikon 300mm f/4? I'm sure the Tamron is a little lighter, but since it has VC, do you find the images to be superior to the Nikon?

Well I saw an older Sigma 120-300 2.8 on eBay and me being nosey decided to bid up and see what the reserve price was ...

Turns out no one else bothered to bid past me !! So I ended up with the lens for £380

Here is the beauty on the D500 and the first shot I took with it in work ...

Looks interesting! So how heavy would you say it is in comparison to your Sigma 70-200 f/2.8?

Its a nearly 3kg lens compared to the 1.4kg of the 70-200 so it is a bit of a beast however its build quality is great. It is the same optics pretty much the same as the newer version.

I dont intend to use this off of a monopod much :)

Had bought as Apollo softbox by Westcott. It didn't last very long at all, snapped one of the bars. It is not repairable. Warranty required I mail it back to the USA - cost me less to buy a similar Godox softbox. Similar idea of the flash inside the umbrella style enclosure. Set it up and tried it out. Seems sturdier. Hope this one lasts.
