I've been looking forward to this lens for a while now. Sage advice from @hark helped me realize my workhorse, pickup truck of a lens, my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 needed an upgrade before I could throw money at this sexy, two-seat roadster of a lens. It was the right decision, and I'm glad I waited; but next week is going to be a very, very good week indeed...

No doubt your Tamron 70-200mm weighs about the same as my Nikon 70-200mm VRii. And that lens weighs about the same as the Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S. When dealing with that much weight, it isn't easy to carry for extended periods of time. Plus the fact that the 300mm AF-S lacks VR means having especially strong arms and hands to support it (or requires a monopod/tripod).

This Sigma looks like it is still somewhat heavy, but since it is shorter than your Tamron, it should be easier to hold steady. And because it is f/1.8, it will be amazing! Congrats, Paul. Looking forward to seeing your images taken with it.

I've been a bit pre-occupied of late, with another job change rolled through, but did pick this up to help with some of the video shoots I've been enjoying lately.

Flea Market find for my vintage camera collection, from Birmingham Alabama.
I remember wanting one of these but never did get one.
Now I have my own - with two film disks - I wonder if they could be developed now?

The AD200 has pulled me into the Godox camp.

I look looking forward to being freed from carrying/recharging the 14 AA batteries needed for a simple, two-flash, off-camera setup with my current gear.

While out of state on business, I went into camera shop to purchase a 20mm lens; looking specifically for a Sigma 20 mm f/1.4 DG Art lens with a Nikon mount.

While there, another item on the shelf quickly caught my eye,... A D850!!!! The sales rep explained that they had gotten in the last of the cameras to fill their current pre-orders and that one customer had declined theirs. So, on the shelf it went.

And as I stood there tongue tied over it, my mind racing with the thoughts of owning it, but questioning whether I should with my current schedule and my current finances, and while still looking at the 20mm lens, someone else walked up and purchased it. They didn't even open the box to look at it before they paid for it!

So I went back to looking at the Sigma 20 mm, which is now my latest photography related purchase.

Just like I planned when I walked into the store. :D
