Day One Hundred Sixty Eight

I was sitting on the deck trying to catch a bird or two but they refused to cooperate. I had to settle for this little critter. I heard he was keeping 1287 eyes on me.

By the way. Snowball isn't the only one with red eyes.

Couldn't get online yesterday. Drove down to Richmond to see Mom and Dad. (87 & 92 respectively). Got a fair shot of Muffet, my dad's toy poodle.

Was going by a burn barrel (for trash) and got the idea of trying to shoot fire. Had to experiment a lot but did get a few good shots.

Didn't know what to put up today so I decided to post the beginning of what will become some good summer eating.

Tomorrow you may get a very similar shot. Today all I had was the 18-55mm kit lens. I'm going to put the 105mm macro on tomorrow and see if the bumble bees are still out. I think I can do better with that lens. (at least I hope I can).

I'm going crazy trying to get ideas. This is not meant to be a complaint but when there's limited mobility, you quickly run out of stuff to shoot. I was messing around with a very old and long time disconnected pc for the grandkids to play with. Couldn't get on the monitor at first, but I found the problem. It was a "simple" solution, so I think I'll enter it for the weekly as well.

I had to build up some connectors today. The diameter measured at the pins is about 1/2 inch (12mm) Each pin gets a wire soldered into it. Tough work when your eyes are as bad as mine.

Interesting shot mike! Great exposure.

Thanks Rick, Things were slow at work today so I sat at my bench and took about 50 shots of the same connector. Differnent angles moving the lights around, in close, out far. Even took some shots after getting some of the wires in place. I wanted to use the flash but that would have been pushing my luck. It was kind of fun, but was driving the guy at the next bench crazy.

No caption here. I also used this shot for the weekly contest (It's called Lazy), and put the caption there.

I drove to the store to get a few tomatos for dinner. As I was walking up the steps, I dropped one. After Slicing it open, we decided it was a good thing I bought more than one. I can't wait till our plants start ripening (see day 171).

I went back to these flowers to try a Bumble Bee shot with the 105mm.
I had picked a flower and got as close as I could and focused on the flower. Along came the bumble bee and I started snapping. I didn't realize until after he flew away that this tiny, almost irridescent spider was on the other side of the flower and made an attempt to aquire a magnificent feast. Sorry little spider.

Oh yes.. I want to mention that five days from now will be the half way point for this challange.

Neat snap Mike. I have been trying for the past couple of weeks to "see" everything in the frame before I make the snap and trying to pay as much attention to my backgrounds as my subject. It is amazing to me what the camera catches that the eye doesn't pick up on right away. I think I have "blown highlights" in the part of my brain that works with my eyes! LOL
