Stood outside tonight photographing a lightning storm for 3+ hours. It was just perfect the way it tracked across the sky. Consequently I will be putting together my best lightning shot ever over the next couple of days. But there are 400 photos I have to go through and eventually edit those that will be a part of the final image. In the meanwhile, testing out a few things, I put this one together from three images. The result has got me excited for what the final project will be when I do it for real over the next couple of days.

Spotted this, I believe, bullfrog. They are not suppose to be here in Utah, but someone took it upon themselves to let them go back in 2007 so there here to stay now.

George; that has to be one of the coolest storm shots I have ever seen! I cannot wait to look at it on a big monitor!! Absolutely amazing. This is one "how to" tutorial I REALLY WANT!!!

What's really disappointing is how much you lose not seeing it in person. This image is three foot in high print resolution. Even though I have done a lot to downsize it for the web, it just loses so much. I plan to have this one printed at either 3 or 6 foot in length. It's one of those pictures you just can't do in a small size.

If you really want to know, I will take the time to write it up and baby step you through the process.

The raw file in the end is 236 meg.

That is massive! I have a pano I've done that ended up printing at almost 7'; and that was with it only being 10" tall! The recipients of that are still trying to get it framed. LoL.

Id absolutely LOVE to know how! I've done up to 15 shot lighting stacks and a few 100+ star trail shots, but this looks like it's WAY more labor intensive and time consuming .... but so worth it with results like that. That should be a cover photo and be viral out there. No BS!!

I will sit down and write up a whole tutorial on it. Like most things, it's not that hard once you learn it. The biggest challenge is patience and at the end attention to detail.

Thanks for the compliment. When I have it printed I will have it mounted on gatorboard. Keeps it lightweight and solves the whole framing issue.

Shot a car show tonight. Spoke with the owner of this Mustang and he commented that Ford said this model is just not photogenic. I disagreed and said they need a new photographer. Working from a shot in a parking lot, with cars on both sides, I photographed his car think this car photographs VERY WELL.

Attended the annual 24 mile Antelope by Moonlight bike ride. Took my camera along so I could snap some photos before the ride. This years theme was Back to the Future since this is the year, October 21, 2015 that Marty McFly traveled to.

Start time nears as the sun dropped behind the horizon.

No shortage of Doc Brown's on hand. And of course a Delorean or is it a time machine?

Not sure where I missed it in the movie, but apparently Thing Mom and Thing 2 must have been in the movie as well. Why else would you wear a costume if it wasn't in the movie?

MoabLady and myself had to make a non-photography run to Colorado. Managed to sneak in a few photos along the way.

Saw this rainbow in Wyoming. I don't think it gets any clearer as to where the pot of gold is or maybe Lucky Charms.

Lots of trains rolling through Wyoming. After a late dinner I ran out to get this shot of the train going by.

Some of you may have noticed that I have been absent for a while, or maybe not. If you had, all is well. The wife and I have been remodeling the house. Heavy remodeling that has consumed nearly all of my free time. The remodeling is now coming to an end so I will be more active.

As I said, nearly all of my time has been consumed, but not all. I will now catch up my thread with the pictures I have been able to sneak in here and there.

Went out to shoot a sunset that didn't materialize, but caught a great shot of two girls walking through the bird preserve also hoping to catch a sunset.

In about the middle of July I took my nephew to go camping for the first time. We had a blast in the Jeep climbing up to to 10,000 feet to set up camp - of course the camera went with us.

Here is the nephew as he walked up a trail to gather fire wood.

We have had a wet summer here in the desert and the mountains still had plenty of wild flowers.

More to come in about an hour. The wife is demanding ice cream after a long first day back to school... as the teacher LOL.

Well I for one noticed you absence and am glad to see that you are back and have not lost your touch. And, of course, ice cream takes precedence over most other considerations, just don't forget to come back.
