What is Lawrence up to - 2015?

I met my neighbour today and it turns out he is a Nikon shooter. Uses a D300 and is pretty good. I will definitely be taking advantage of all that experience close at hand.

I went down to the river to get out of the house more than anything and discovered ducks - the everyday brown ones - have feathers which come out and make a very intriguing subject when floating on the river and the wind is blowing against the current.

Has potential - just wish I was better at PP and today my NIK free trial ended.

The quest for sharper macros continues ...

The bees aren't helping much with the speed they move and then the stick their faces into the flower revealing only their butts.

But i don't give up easy and came up with a work-in-progress solution.
My idea is simple. Ask another bee to hold one down.
OK I know how Don Kuykendall would do it but that is a bit extreme.
Anyway asking one to hold the other seems like a good idea but I need to explain how I want them to pose.
I fear my request simply encouraged the one to tell the other one about the "birds and the bees" ... ;)

Those latest Bee shots are excellent Lawrence. I think you have cracked it old son :cheerful:

Thanks Brad. Yeah I have learned to step back a bit thanks to all the help from you guys on here.

This lens is quite amazing.

Here is a shot straight out of camera of the tiniest of spiders. His body is no bigger than a pinhead and I only spotted him because I was zeroing in on a flower.

This is a crop to 100%
OK its
It's not the greatest photo but it does show how good the lens is.
The white marks are parts of the web.

Yes, its amazing what you find when looking through the viewfinder with the macro lens on the front.

I am glad you have gained confidence in your lens, I can remember when I upgraded to my Nikon 105 from the old Nikon 55, the first day or two I was thinking I had got a lemon.

Funny that because I also had similar thoughts. However I knew that my technique was not very good either.
I suspect the guy that sold it to me also thought it was a lemon as it was pretty inexpensive and he was really keen to let it go.

I think I'll make some lemonade ...

Went to a Rodeo this morning and overall I am disappointed with my photos as they are not as sharp as I was hoping.
Still working my way through them.

Here's one for now.

And then my usual portrait of an angel. She had the loveliest eyes and big brother was looking after her.
I sent him off to ask mum's permission first in case people thought I was a bit weird ...
