So I'm sure nobody will feel too bad for me, but I'm on vacation in Hawaii, and I miss my Tamzooka. There are lots of great birds to photograph here, and I've done okay with my Nikon 18-300 "do it all" lens. Still, once you have the Tamzooka, nothing else quite feels right.

i would check the local camera shops for rental.

I finally got home from interstate and was able to unleash my new Tamron.

Im pretty happy with the results for the price I paid for the lens. I also like the fact its not too heavy and all my shots so far have all been hand held with little to no bracing my arms or body.

Sorry about the poor JPEG quality the pictures look a lot better in RAW. This Tamron makes me wonder how good the Nikon 600mm f/4G is for $12,000 AUD.

I must admit I never understood wildlife and bird photographers but now I do. Being able to zoom in close and see what you normally never see is pretty cool, for example the Rabbit photo has been cropped from 6016 x 4016 to 2368 x 1480 because he was pretty far away and because it was near dusk I had to bump the ISO up. And although its not an awesome photo you can see the rabbit has had a hard life and lost an eye in a fight with a cat or another rabbit? I was wondering why all the other rabbits scattered and he stayed behind. I guess I was in his blind spot!

This morning I'm going to go to the local surf beach and see what I can get there.

(Only the Rabbit photo was heavily cropped and the Mudlark had angle adjustment. The rest are D610 full frame with no crop)

Some surf pictures as promised. Some cropped some not.

Ive noticed from 300-450mm the lens is pretty sharp and from 500mm slowly out to 600mm it looses its sharpness. Sunny days really do make the lens come alive.

Here are some more photos. Im still learning how to use my camera let alone get anywhere getting the most from the lens. I would love to use this lens with a D4S. It must help having all that ISO.

I'm still a noob. I'm learning and just shooting anything. I keep my camera in Manual mode so I can fast track my learning. Been reading books on composition and color. And every time I go to shoot something I'm thinking how can I get this subbject from another angle that the human eye doesn't see. It's tough and very challenging. Kind of depressing that a lot of photos get heavily photoshopped. I must admit I do play with the exposure and color in lightroom and remove dust spots but never merging images together etc. I've also noticed you need luck and timing on your side. Eventually I'll spread more images around the forum thanks for the kind words.
