I'm gonna be pissed if they ran out of replacement shutters and started sending out replacement cameras instead.

Seriously, though, I'd be very interested to know why you got one over the other since the person I spoke to there seemed to not even want to mention the idea that this wasn't imminently fixable, and the idea of replacing it with a new body was ludicrous (though they stated that were this procedure to fail to remedy any situation that we could discuss that). I'm not angry, and only a little jealous, but extremely curious. Is there anything on the work order that states something about the old camera being unrepairable?

I don't know why they replaced it, they just did. I sent in the required photos and was told they would replace it. The invoice just says 'Replaced Product'...

Thanks. Bizarre. Perhaps if I had sent in photos as well? They never even gave me an opportunity to attach them. Did you file this as a warranty repair or respond to the email?

My status has changed from "shop" to "Billing", despite it saying good will repair 00.00. I'm assuming that is just the next step to shipping.

"Billing" should mean that the camera is also in shipping. When I contacted them my camera was still listed as "received", but by the time I'd spoken with someone it was finished and already at the shipping depart, so I suspect status updates are not continuous but end-of-day. Mine went out the same day, so it's very possible you'll get an email today with tracking info. Fingers crossed for you - that means you'll have it before the weekend.

Hello All.. I have a US purchased D600 but I am currently living in South Korea (I am a US Service member). DO I ship my D600 to the US or do you think Im able to do this locally at a Nikon Service center?

I suspect that this repair could probably be done anywhere. I know that they offer the same service in Europe. You could find out by contacting Nikon services in Korea and they probably would tell you your best option.

Just picked up my camera from UPS. I've done a quick sky test at f16 and I'm thrilled that it is absolutely spotless (cleanest sensor I've ever seen!). Looks like they put about 260 clicks on mine at the shop. They cleaned the body (very well) and upgraded the firmware. I'll shoot some HDR later at f11 and report back.
