Before I spend money on a macro lens. This will let me get into macro photography, and I'll see what I prefer to shoot and I'll be able to choose a lens accordingly.

It finally came yesterday! The D610, and full frame. Don't worry, I won't be looking back! I have to try it with my FX lenses. I've only taken one shot, and that was with the 50mm f/1.8. I spent most of last night setting it up. Does anyone know if the battery should have a Nikon logo hologram on it? Mine just says EN-EL 15, but no hologram like some of the Nikon batteries I have ordered in the past. The camera did come with the yellow USA warranty certificate, and the box has the 'U' above the bar code which designates it as being a USA model for warranty purposes. I think I will call Nikon support this morning and make sure by running the serial number by them to ensure that's the case. I'll also ask them about the battery. If any of you know the answers to my question about the battery, please let me know. Thanks!

First impressions: well, the strap seems like it has gotten thinner than my D7100 strap, and has a rubberized coating on the backside. It seems a little chincy for a camera that costs so much. I do like the LCD plastic screen protector. I have flipped through the menu's and they seem very similar to the D7100. I am still looking for the menu that lets you turn the FX into a DX just in case I ever need to use it. Other than that, it handles just like the D7100. After I take some pictures with the new lenses I bought, I'll let you know what I think of IQ versus the D7100.

After a phone call to AJ Richie, they sent me a new Nikon Battery for the D610. I'm all set now, even though I do have spares, it just wasn't right for them to send me a no name 3rd party battery in the first place. I'm in good shape now. Thank goodness. Can't you trust ANYBODY to do the right thing ANYMORE without having to take on corporate? I'm tired of all these crappy hassles. Happy with the D610 for now though!

Having bought my first DSLR a couple of weeks ago, I bought "my" first film SLR today, a F80/N80. It's not really mine as it is for my wife.

At £59 I hope it was a steal and my wife will enjoy using it!

You'll love the lens! Great choice...I love using it even on my D7100....even better on the D610. What are you going to be using it for mainly?

Events, some landscapes and maybe a bit of architecture. Also, I might cut down on using the 24-70 at the wide end as I hear that there is hardly any distortion with the 14-24. Will be a bit different from the Tokina 11-16 2.8 I had been using (which is now for sale).

Thanks and you're correct.....very little distortion with the 14-24 mm f/2.8. I took a bunch of pictures with it at a car show and also at Duke Gardens. I got some nice flower and tree shots at the gardens and it was very impressive at the car show! Enjoy.....and good luck selling the legendary 11-16 f/2.8. I hear that's a great DX lens too!

I just received a close-out Nikon 1 V2 from Henry's. Haven't had much of an opportunity to try it out yet.
