And today, day 136. Trying out 'free lensing" where you use a broken lens you kept for some reason (in my case a Canon 18-55mm) and just hold it in front of the camera while trying to focus on something. You should be able to create some great effects, light leaks and funny focus points, I am not that good yet, its really difficult. You can google for more info :)

This is just a lot of testing.

Finally figured out I had to be pretty close to be able to focus ;)

Light leak (right side) - I had a lot of very over-exposed shots, not all sure how I managed this leak.

Kind of what I am going for, having trouble being further away and still get these colored effects (had the lens on 55mm)

Weird :)

These 2 doesn't have a lot of effect, but cool I actually got focus right:

Well basically you just don't mount it but keeps it in front of the open camera. On a prime you can screw of the top part and get even closer to your sensor - be care full! If you do that on a nikon lens, I think you need to glue something to keep aperture open?

Remember to to clean your sensor afterwards.. :)

Some really great shots there Mai...especially the metro shots and the dog shot you liked best is the one I like best too.

Day 137 - he was a trouble maker today ;)

Managed to drive him tired though!

From yesterday, that was challenging! White dress, dark dogs, very sunny. I don't know if I did something with my screen on camera, when looking during the shoot I thought the images looked very weird - way to contrasty, dark, bad.. So I did a lot of changing settings, but when looking on computer, most looks just normal :apthy:

Nice shots. But the Model seems unsure in some. Almost timid? Hmmm...i am looking for a certain word but it is eluding me. The first Person shot looks great. But the last two feel almost like she was forcing it some. Almost like she lacks confidence when she sees the camera. Make sense? Or then maybe it is just me.....

The Dog shots are wonderful though. Really get the playful mischievousness coming through.

I do think it's just her way of smiling but I'll look through the images to see if there are better ones :)

That may be. Its not bad, the shots still look great. It is just there seemed to be a noticeable change between the first and last two. That's all.

Day 138 - sitting in the latest sun for the day, very contrasty which I liked

Day 139 - mom and son

I finally got a reflector today - turns out its broken though, bummer, going back there tomorrow.. But managed a few testshots.

First without and then with plain white reflector (dont look at composition and the lack of adjustments, I was just testing). Dogs say, dont look at our expressions, we weren't ready lol.

Without first and then with gold striped cover on the reflector

To me she appears conscious (i.e. too aware) of the camera and not totally relaxed. I think it is something about here smile - almost as if it is a bit stiff.
However that in no way detracts from the remarkable skill of the photographer.
I want to shoot like WUD!

You can really see the difference the reflector makes Mai....a definite improvement in light. The gold side gives your dogs a nice look :D

Yes. I was in no way questioning Wuds' mad skills behind the camera. I just noticed the difference in the models mood was all. The first shot the model was creating her own light. The other shots...her light seems dimmer. That was all.

Yes its quite good :) But a little unhandy.. Lots of dog stuff it obviously can't be used for but I hope it will be good for some of the portraits.

Mai.....since you have white dogs....ever thought of using colored lights to change the color of the fur? For some reason I think your dogs would look cool Tie Dye.
