great shots Marilynne, is the tricolor heron much smaller than the blue, or is that tricolor just a young one?

Thanks Roy. Yes, TriColor herons are a lot smaller than the Great Blue Heron. TriColors can get up to a little over two feet and the blue can get up to a little over four feet.

Thanks Ron. I asked him nicely to turn his head for the second shot. The man behind me laughed when I asked and didn't believe it when it did. For some reason, face front on herons, to me, doesn't that great a shot.
