Day 31 - Life is like...
...yeah, 'nuff said. We're all in the same box, so let's live our lives with class. 1 month down, 11 to go!
The 2nd shot, portrait mode, was still with the speedlight on camera, and I experimented (and learned!) a bit about angling the flash so as to minimize harsh shadows and came out with a workable solution! I ended up pointing the flash up and slightly behind for the result. Still got some shadow, as would be expected with the flash on camera, but nowhere near as harsh as leaving it in typical "the pros bounce it this way" position.
Can't wait until I can work with the flash off camera...

Darn Moab Man for beating me to this one, but wanted to play around with the same idea anyway, so NYAH! Also threw in a reflection of the flame for fun as well.
His, I couldn't see on my iMac, so this one I tailored TO be seen on the iMac. It may be a bit brighter for some, I suppose...
I still plan on trying a shot with quite a few candles together soon.

I might mess around a bit with it and see what I can create... almost think a color candle with B&W face would be cool, but it's the end of my day. The B&W does have a more ominous kind of feel, though.
Thought about doing away with all but the eyes, too. That could be fun.
Day 33 - Winter Wonderland
To start, the forecast told us to expect "flurries" with accumulation anywhere from a "dusting" to 1/2 inch of snow. Well, this started around 8:30, and an hour and a half later... we've got anywhere between 2 and 3 inches, with more expected tonight (and again Tuesday, and again next weekend).
*sigh* 138 days until Summer.
Flurries? We got our "dusting" in 5 minutes!
Sure made the trees lovely.
