Thank you. I know I will hit some rough patches, but I am trying to put some structure and routine in my life. Going back to work today was very good. I am trying to get some structure and routine back in my life. The kids were great, as were my co-workers. Not one F-bomb directed at me from my students. Bet that changes tomorrow.

You may be right. Heck, you likely are right, but I hope they surprise you.
They really did surprise me. Not a single F-bomb directed at me today. WOW! Tomorrow will probably be different.

Almost forgot to get a photo for the day. My new toy arrived this afternoon, and I have been playing around and setting it up since I took it out of the box. It is a Dell XPS13 developer edition running Ubuntu Linux. It is very, very nice. Worked out of the box. It even found my wireless network and let me connect as easily as my Mac has done.
I had gotten so disgusted with our IT department and the total moron who who causes more problems than he can fix. He is on a power trip and is a control freak with no idea of what we teachers need and use. He actually tried to get us to put all our lessons in a community folder that everyone could access, delete, modify, or just generally mess up. Put that together with someone who has no idea what he is doing, and it is a recipe for disaster. I was a programmer and systems administrator for 23 years before I became a high school science teacher. It is not that he is just some arrogant, young hotshot. He is way older than I am, has the personality of a troll, and assumes who whole education department is filled with clueless losers.
Okay, enough of my rant. Below is a not very good photo of my new toy. It is so nice, fast, and has a super sharp screen, decent battery life (Linux is not known for it's optimized battery life, that's for sure) of about 6.5 hrs, and boots up in just a few seconds. I think I am in techno-gizmo love.

In my experience the Ubuntu versions of the last couple of years have been REALLY easy to install, and have just been running out of the box, except if you use the cheapest of laptops (like I do myself, sadly). But good to hear that it's just working for you. It's so annoying when some piece of hardware just wont work with the OS, especially with wifi, as getting packages for a fix becomes a hazzle

I took this Thursday but did not get a chance to process and post it until this evening. This is one year's growth of a bizarre succulent that my mother started from seed over 30 years ago. All I do is water it and every so often, fertilize it, when I remember. It definitely looks alien.

I took this with the AF Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 lens.
I took this Thursday but did not get a chance to process and post it until this evening. This is one year's growth of a bizarre succulent that my mother started from seed over 30 years ago. All I do is water it and every so often, fertilize it, when I remember. It definitely looks alien.

Trying to get myself back to some kind of basic routine and a little structure in my life (other than work). After running some errands, I made my dairy-less lasagna. I am allergic to the protein in dairy products, so the only way I can get lasagna is if I make it myself. Actually, it tastes really good. I use instant organic mashed potatoes in place of ricotta cheese. The rest, less any cheese, is made just like regular lasagna, including seasonings.
Just before I put it in the oven:
After it came out of the oven, and was "resting." I'm going to dig into in as soon as I am finished posting.
