I'm gutted that the last is technically flawed, but I love the moment it captured!

Today at our company Xmas party, they announced the winners of the Company Photo Contest. .. Entries were due in Sept. I had sent in a couple different shots, a summer scene (Horshoe Pond), a Fall Scene (also HP) and a winter scene in my town of Hudson.

The winning pictures are added to the wall decor in the building and there are some amazing shots over the years .. They have not had one in many years (none since I hired in 8 years ago.

I was honored to take 1st place this year and it was my photo at Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack NH which is also where the plant is located... The prize is they make 2 prints, framed and matted, one with a plaque identifying the name, position (1st or 2nd) and year is hung at work.. The 2nd is presented to the Employee...

This photo was taken with my D5100 and is likely one of my best shots with that camera...

Thanks Deezy and Michael... I have a D7100 now but still use my 5100. I have no trouble telling people what the 5100 is capable of, just look at some of the great photos in this thread!

Excellent work. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with the D5100.
then it must be the kit lens i have cos i've always gotten very inconsistent results with this camera and always have to do some kind post-processing to get the pics to look anywhere near decent.

If I am not mistaken, that picture was with the kit lens... (18-55) It also had post work done..

What mode are you shooting in??? Raw?? JPEG???

always Raw. maybe some are due to exposure issues but they're never sharp - i always have to adjust hilites, shadows, clarity, sharpness and somtimes contrast in either Lightroom or PS to get them to look decent if it's even salvagable in the first place. another thing that keeps happening is the mirror is always getting smudged somehow. i'm always cleaning it even though i set the auto-clean option to On in the camera.
