You should take some HDR shots of the truck and tractor.

great shots the way they are, just wanted to throw the HDR out there as another option.

Thanks for the comments/advice. I don't now when I'll get out to that farm again, but doing HDR is a good idea.

I'm just happy that the lens is sharp, color is excellent and focus is fast.

Went on the Verde Valley Railroad today. Breathtaking views but sadly all in the mid-day AZ sun. I think these are OK. All are hand held on a moving narrow gauge train

Hi, i'm torn between taking this tamron 70-200 vc and nikon 80-200 2.8. I was worried with the tamron since i was seeing some forums having bad copies of this lens. and the focus speed is slow specially in low light. i'm planning to use this for indoor/outdoor sports, concerts, portraits. Does this lens really focus fast? even in low light? or should i be better of with the nikon. i want to have vc to for extreme low light situations. im using a d7000. did you have any issues with your copies like having to send them to the retailer for a replacement.? thanks!

I haven't tried a low light situations yesterday so I cannot speak about focus speed under that circumstance. Otherwise it has exceeded my expectations right out of the box with no issues.

One thing is that if I had an issue, I live on Long Island, NY and I could walk into Tamrons headquarters and have it dealt with.

Shoot raw FTW...I heard people saying that out of camera shots don't look good...If you are shooting in Raw,they wont look their best until edited...That is the point of Raw..lol Having lots of data to tweak..I agree this lens looks sharp and Im saving for one. But some of these pics do not look that sharp due to user error with focus..

I am curious; what shots posted in this thread, in your estimation are out of focus?

No problems with my copy. I glanced at the 80-200 a number of times as well, but the faster AF, modern features & dxomark review pushed me to the Tamron. I can say that it performs great in the light. I won't know until December how well it does with indoor sports, but I'm hoping for the best. I have no problems using my 70-200 f4 in low light indoors, so I expect the Tamron to do as well/better.

Wondering also and what's with FTW I know what that means and it's usually an immature 16 year old that uses it.

I think you're confusing the old lens with the new lens. I had the old lens and the focus speed was very poor but the image quality IQ is excellent. The new lens has instant focus and lock and so far in my experience in any light along with top shelf IQ.
